Sorry, I realise this has been discussed before! I was put on Erfa Thyroid along with Medrol for adrenal fatigue a year ago, by a doctor trained by Thierry Hertoghe, after ten years on thyroxine only. Since then, I have had my ups and downs. I seem to do better on the smaller pills of Erfa (30 and

LCHF Diet -- any success stories?
Hello everyone, I am hearing/seeing a lot about LCHF diet; its benefits for diabetes, it will result in reversal, etc.. Please reply if you are the one following LCHF and you controlled your BS with that. I just want to learn truely how many people have benefited from that and why doctors won't recommend

Eyes and legs!
Approximately three weeks ago I developed a rash on both of my shins. Tiny red spots, very slightly raised, they don't itch, but don't go away either. I have tried putting Canesten on them and hydrocortisone too, but it doesn't have any effect on them. I also have very painful aching calves. Around

50 years of PSP research
A few months ago (October 2014) a syllabus was drawn up to teach health professionals about PSP and the progress made in 50 years since the disease was described by the three doctors, Steele-Richardson-Olszewski. (John Steele is still alive). While most of the information in the 100 pages is too technical

Effective emollient moisturisers: tips please?
Sjogrens sicca dry overheated skin symptoms are even worse for me this winter than ever. Complicated by my raynauds being simultaneous with erythromelalgia, all are secondary to my infant onset systemic lupus.....along with various other typical secondaries. Am on daily hydroxychloroquine + mycophenolate

Advice please: prescription emollients
Sjogrens sicca dry overheated skin symptoms are even worse for me this winter than ever. Complicated by my raynauds being simultaneous with erythromelalgia I've had enough years learning to manage all this, and trying various over the counter moisturising products. So far, Aqueous cream doesn't work

Recent PMR diagnosis
Have supersensitive gut with long standing gastro-intestinal issues. Stopped Predn. after 4 days of 5mg x2 daily. Now prx'd Hydrocortisone 5mg x 2 3 times daily - shocking side effects, gut worse. Take large range probiotics, has anyone experienced this?

Synacthen test shows cortisol/adrenal deficiency
]Hi, our son is 12 and has always had quite bad asthma - we've just been to see a new consultant today as his medication was upped to Seretide 250 2 puffs twice a day along with his montelukast 5mg about 6 months ago. He had also had a synacthen test which showed his adrenal gland now isn't functioning

Cycle 1 of BR compared to FCR, and any advice regarding Port v. PICC line please?
I had 5 cycles of FCR four years ago, and although the nausea was dreadful, I didn’t miss a day of work as I’d timed the treatment each month to start the day before my two long days of piano teaching at the local primary school. By the time my second day's teaching was ending, the nausea would kick

A peculiar problem-Type2 Diabetes
I have a peculiar problem. 2 hours after my meal my readings are around 220. Thereafter about 3.5 hours after the meal (approx when sugar reading is 200) it rises and rapidly to a reading of approx 400 without my eating anything. From trial and error I have realized that if I quickly eat another meal

Just seen this in The Lancet
The Lancet Home Tables and Figures An unacceptable variation in the organisation and delivery of care for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in England and Wales was the stark conclusion of the latest audit of acute units from the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP

Had a bit of bad news today
The doctors can't do anything else for Mum. They are withdrawing intervention and she will be treated by the palliative care team at home. They've said around two weeks left. I'm ok with it all actually, just thought I'd let my friends on here know x

After watching a couple of commercials regarding cancer care centers (and I am not taking anything away from those awesome centers) I...
... began thinking why can't there be similar centers for PSP (and other related illnesses) patients. Is there even such a thing? Home care, palliative care and even end of life care is not cutting it. At least not for me. There has to be something more for our loved ones, for our families, for us

Help! Experiences of Private Drs prescribing please
Hi, my saliva test is so bad - every sample below range - that despite trying CT3 and LDN it is looking more and more likely that the only way to progress is to take hydrocortisone. Unfortunately my cortisol blood comes back high, so I can't see an NHS GP prescribing me any and I know it is very expensive
