Mom's in an induced coma to treat severe double pneumonia
Good Day to the HU community. Honestly don' t even know how to start this or why I'm even dumping on you guys. I feel like I just need some reassurance through this which I feel is the worst period of my life ever. A little history . Back in 2013 my mum was diagnosed with TB which damaged one of her

Things are changing rapidly
In my last report I had just received my first PSA result over 1.03 (3.70) and had my water works pack in. On 20 November I had surgery to sort things out. This showed that my cancer had now spread to the outer sphincter and blocked off the urethra. I had a Supra-pubic catheter inserted in my bladder

Damn the Torpedoes Part 2. Impact of exercise on a low calorie, LCHF diet.
Generally speaking, the average woman needs 2000 calories; men 2300. For the sake of simplicity, weāll just use 2300, which will include basal metabolic requirements (just living breathing, repairing, digesting etc) and basic everyday mundane activity, but excludes exercise.āØ We need 2300, but are

This was to have been one long post, but as there is a lot of ground to cover, I will break it up into more manageable chunks. But before we go there hereās a little background. āØI am 69 years old, weigh 176

Prescription cortisone for adrenal fatigue?
I'd really appreciate some feedback on this. Diagnosed with adrenal fatigue by Hertoghe doctor in Belgium in 2011 (using 24 h urine analysis). Put on 4 mg of Medrol and told I could raise to 6 or even 8 mg daily if needed; apparently, 8 mg daily is the equivalent of 40 mg of bioidentical hydrocortisone

Did anyone watch '' We must talk about death''? I was very impressed and uplifted with their findings that patients with Dementia and other serious health issues are overall much better cared for at home. Their quality of life is much improved, and the palliative care at home is normally far better then

Talking about death
Did anyone see last nightās BBC programme āwe need to talk about deathā? As someone who was stage 4 and on palliative care from diagnosis, I found it really helpful. It was so positive about palliative care and hospices. Even verified that palliative care can not only improve quality of life but also

Disagree with consultant's discharge for dad.
Hi all, I'm new here so apologies if this post gets too long. Here goes, my dad has psp and his swallowing difficulties have started. Was admitted to hospital a month ago and got IV antibiotics for a chest infection. Remained weak and confused and we were told he was suffering from delerium due to the

Consolidating and chipping away the miles
Havenāt posted in a bit: I am chipping away at my target mileage for the month (aiming for 20+ to achieve 250 over the year: modest for many but an achievable challenge for me), running usually twice a week, 4 or 5k each run. Managed three runs this week: a gentle 3.5k shuffle this afternoon to take

Hypoadrenalism and hydrocortisone
Hello everyone, and very highest hopes for the new year, in every wayā¤ļø My last few months have been very trying, and Iāll try to keep it short, but pretty much all the helpful advice I have ever had came from this forum, and I would be grateful for any thoughts before I carry the battle on to 2019.

Knee replacement and PMR
After seeing my latest knee x-rays, my ortho surgeon has added my name to the waiting list to have a total knee replacement (sigh). We discussed my ongoing weight loss and he was very encouraged by my efforts thus far, and I'm more determined than ever to drop another 20 pounds (and do my daily quad

Prednisolone diary 16 - review of the year
This is a summary of how steroids have treated me over the past year. I began 2018 on 4mg pred, but with daily nausea, headache and extreme fatigue. After discovering that I had adrenal insufficiency, my endo suggested increasing to 5mg, but before that experiment had gotten very far, I developed myositis
