remission gca?
Until I was diagnosed, by letter, and still no Endocrine appt, I was on 2mg Pred, and doing well. Along came the Synacthen test, and diagnosis of Addison's disease, and my world fell apart. Felt like I did, 12 years ago, when diagnosed GCA. It has been a rollercoaster ride. The stomach aches have settled

Hello Everyone.....
Hello everyone. My name is Zhanna. Dear HHD sufferers, I am new here and would like to share my experience. My HHD started about in my mid 20ties and now I am 39. And it used to be very seldom breakouts during the year. But lately it became very aggressive and I must say that I have constant breakouts

Rubbish -Leave liothyronine alone, Julie Woods and Simon Stevens should resign
Julie Woods chief Exec NHSCC and Simon Stevens should resign on this statement alone. How dare they suggest there are more cost effective products available than liothyronine. Unless they are referring to T4 of course, which is absolutele pug wash. This article just goes to show their lack of knowledge

Not sure whether to go ahead with 2nd Total Knee Replacement in October
Had PMR for over 7 years and been on pred all that time. Increased for flares then decrease. Longest time on small maintenance dose was over 2 years then flare and back up again. Never able to get off completely Had 1st TKR July 2016 and initially all good, then 3 major flares within short time post

On road to recovery
Hello, After almost 9 months I've been able to bring my post-prandial blood sugar level down to 124. By following LCHF diet as recommended here. Thankyou so much. My fasting though still remains high at 116. It was suggested to try ashwagandha at bedtime... I'm trying that now. Any more suggestions

Lymphatic Reflexology
Hello ladies This afternoon I had a wonderful session of reflexology. I've been feeling pretty pooped lately and haven't been sleeping well for weeks so figured i'd treat myself. I've had reflexology before a few times and it was something i'd organise often for my darling Mum as part of her palliative

My sister is still in hospital. She had a caecostomy as opposed to a colostomy or illeostomy. I can find very little information in caecostomies other than they are considered palliative. She is still experiencing leaking from the transverse colon and had a drain fitted but every time they move her the

Athletes foot - anyone got a magic cure?
Driving me nuts! Never had it before but have had this for about two months! Have tried sprays, powders and went to doctors who gave me Lamisil cream. Have tried apple cider vinegar and washing my feet in bicarb solution and nothing seems to work! I am currently sitting here covered in bicarb paste

Hypopituitarism & thyroid results help
I'm hypothyroid due to having a tumour removed from my pituitary gland so am now dependent on Hydrocortisone to live & function. I recently had a blood test to check my thyroid levels & would like some input on the results please. Now I know that the results are different for a hypopituitarism patient

My lab reports
I am 60 years old, diabetic for the past 23 years. Started LCHF diet 10 months back. Stopped insulin and taking 2 tabs as advised by LCHF doctor. Good news is that I have stopped BP and thyroid tablets since one month and yesterday's lab reports showed normal values. But the abnormal values are:

Nursing home woes
Hi all, Just a quick update on my dad. Having been approved for CHC Fasttrack funding a week or so ago - and having been in hospital for 3 weeks - we are now unable to find a nursing home willing to take him. He is considered a fall risk and, after assessing him, don't believe that they can offer

Gleason 9 (5+4) 10+ years ago - widely metastatic cancer and running out of options!
My husband was diagnosed in 2007 at age 57, Gleason 9 (5+4), PSA 18. [PSA at age 50 was 10 - a 3 core biopsy showed nothing so he was told he simply had a high baseline PSA]. He started ADT in late 2007 and had iodine brachytherapy in 2008. PSA rose rapidly after surgery. Combidex scan in Holland
