Constant bloating with pelvic pain - please help!
Hello, This is my first post here. I was hoping someone may be able to help, or have had similar symptoms before. A year ago (september 2014) I suddenly had very bad bloating and distension. I hadn't put on any weight, I was exercising every day (it became a new hobby!) and eating healthily. I've always

Genetic Analysis
So there I was, casually looking for one specific genetic mutation when I found out that I have the SNP that tags HLA-DQ2.5 (one of the main coeliac genetic mutations), plus 34 others associated with coeliac. Put simply: I have a truckload of coeliac genetic markers. This then begs the question: as

Why can't I lose weight.
I did a healthy weight programme at the beginning of the year. 12 weeks of nutrition, eatwell plate and exercise. I lost some weight and continued to lose weight steadily. I've still got some way to go. It's now six months and I went for my weigh in last Thursday. Since then regardless of having done

Genetic analysis
So I had my DNA analysed by 23andme and the most significant results are not a huge surprise. I have the common mutation on the MTHFR gene, the methylation thing. Would that mean that I can't trust the results of my folate tests? If I've understood correctly the mutation may mean that the folate pools

Broken Places story of Parkinson's
I recently published a book named, Broken Places. One of the chapters is about my diagnosis and subsequent journey to find proper treatment. For anyone just diagnosed, I think this might be enlightening. You can view the book at: www.amazon.com/author/nancywhitfield I recently underwent DBS at Stanford

Here we go again! Next stop - private?
It's been a very disappointing & stressful day. I saw an NHS Endo in July this year, he was nice enough but I didn't get the vibe that he was going to be a lot of help from the beginning. But I managed to get some more blood tests ordered from him with a follow up appointment scheduled for today. Well

Self medicating with T3 Recent Blood Results
Hi Just a little back ground about my daughter. She has had typical hypo. symptoms for over six years but as her TSH was in the so called range she was diagnosed with CFS even though her TSH was creeping up every time it was checked The last time the G.P. checked it, it was 4.7 which is very top of

Night
My nights are getting pretty bad now. Do you guys take medicine throughout the nighttime? It would be okay if i didn't have to pee every 2 hours. Also, i have no tremor but I do have wearing off, freezing up, swallowing issues, balance problems, speech issues, can hardly walk when off the med. Does

I think I just found the answer to fitness and weight gain. Since my Dbs success I've been hitting the gym 3x weekly. I actually gained 30 lbs but unfortunately it's been 50/50 muscle:fat according to my bmi scale. I just haven't been able to walk enough to keep the fat down. Today I purchased a

Pituitary disease and prediabetic
Hi community! I'm 52 year old woman and I've had pituitary disease for years, now I'm showing up prediabetic. The hypothyroidism and menopause keeps me from being able to loose weight despite a decent, gluten free diet. (I'm 25 lbs. Over my ideal). My blood platelet (MPV) count is high too. Any one

What to expect from DBS
My doctor is recommending DBS. I'm terrified. What does it feel like? How long is recovery? I live alone and I'm nervous about being discharged too soon, as hospitals seem so anxious to do these days. Do you have to be awake or do they knock you out?

Heat ointment! Meanwhile I am resting a lot and trying to relax. I can only think my system did not take kindly to reducing to 10mgs of pred even though I was taking it slowly.
