Almost died of flu, pneumonia and sepsis - will the fear of death go away?
Hi all, I'm so happy there's an online community for people who've been in an ICU! I'm 53 years old and prior to this thought I was really healthy. I'm a hillwalker and regularly climb large Scottish mountains. The consultants in the hospital kept referring to me as "young and fit" which does wonders

Is there hope? I’m dreading asking the question of “how long”…
My father was diagnosed in September ‘23 with a PSA in the 900s. It had already metastasized throughout his body in several parts of his bones (ribs, spine, hips, femur and a spot at the base of his skull) but no organs had been affected other than his prostate. We were hopeful when it began to climb

Starting methotrexate tips
Hi I posted last week about decision to stop Mycophenolate after 12 months and switch to Azathioprine, unfortunately blood tests found I'm not suitable so now the plan is to start Methotrexate next month. Just wondering if anyone had any tips to manage side effects? I've tolerated Hydroxy, Pred and

7dp5dt BFP and hcg blood test
Hi ladies. I'm currently 7dp5dt after a FET and of course ended up testing early. Thankfully, I think the tests are looking OK and progressing well so far, though it's still early days. However, I don't automatically get a hcg blood test as the clinic I used was in Denmark. Would you pay for the tests

hypercholesterolaemia - getting nausea and headaches
I was diagnosed with hypercholesterolaemia and have had genetic blood test done to familial hypercholesterolaemia. I’ve been on 80 mg atrovastaine for 2 months and had no side affects. For the last 8 days I have been suffering from significantly nausea and headaches which don't fully go away with paracetamol

Hi, I am reaching out to hear other's experiences. I was diagnosed 10 years ago with asthma. Recently, my lung function is dropping. This week it is at 41%. Intrinsic Factor (IF) Antibodies testing while on B12
Hello folks - If someone has IF Antibodies and is taking b12 ...would that affect an IF and IF Antibodies blood test..? I dont think it should - as if you have errosive gastritis / malabsorbtion issues etc, you got them...and the B12 wont improve that in any way...? Thanks lovely PA folks

Smouldering Myloma
I didn’t want to comment on Lindloo’s post about MGUS but my story has similarities. During investigations last year2023 for PMR it was shown that I had paraprotein in my blood. I am lucky to have a very thorough GP . She was sceptical that I had PMR because ESR and CRP only slightly raised. However

New diagnosis - what to expect/demand from GP
I had my second child in August 2022 and to be honest I've not felt right since. Since going back to work in June last year I've been permanently exhausted but it's just got worse and worse. Totally mental fog, can't focus, constantly yawning my head off. My body aches constantly but all the while I
