wanted injections sooner than the 12 weeks

so i feel my injections need to be shorter than every 12 weeks as i start to getting very tired. So when my injection day came i mentioned it and said could they do them maybe every 10 weeks . so i got sent for bloods which obviously my b12 was fine because i had had my injection but my B9 folate is low and they think i may have infection which i do not think i do so are giving me antibiotics. i was thinking wouldnt it look like i had infection because as it says the b12 causes the red blood cells to enlarge . I think they should take the blood test before they give the injection and maybe that would give a truer reading. i had my injection on the thursday or friday ( my fog brain makes me forget) and my blood test the day after the England match Monday and i still feel tired i know they say takes about a week to kick in but it was in my bloods already. All i know is i constantly feel exhausted and it cant be normal to feel like this. I just want to go to sleep all the time

Hiya pinkypurple58,

I am so sorry to hear u are in that cruel B12 cycle 🙁 I have been there n can remember that buzz u get from the injection never lasted long. I also remember that free falling drop right down into corpsemode fatigue where u could hardly move, how my legs were agony n how on the last few weeks I didn’t even have the energy to keep my eyelids open. Now I self inject n feel so different 😊 I hope u succeed in moving the injections forward n get back to feeling much better 😊🤗💜

Once on B12 injections levels do not need doing .Itx in their guidelines.

Levels will and should be high.

Not all of it can be utilised.

Whole point is to keep levels high.

Are you taking s modest folic acid supplement?

Iron ferritin snd vitamin D can be low too if an ansorbtion problem.

The surgery csn easily give you 8 weekly .

Agsin in their guidelines.

If you've any neurological symptoms....headaches ect .

Mention The Pernicious Anaemia Society have information for medical professionals

Ask again about thd prescription of antibiotics??

Put your request for 8 weekly injections in a letter.

As per NICE guidelines.

This has to be scanned onto your notes .I get a prescription to self inject subcutaneously.

They also should rule out anything else going on.

Or give you other reasons for fatigue

If you come on this forum regularly , you will realise that more or less all of us are forced to self -inject B12 because we can’t get injections regularly enough to keep symptoms at bay . Yes you should try to get them from your GP , but it’s usually more than difficult , as in general the medical profession is not very knowledgeable about P.A. ( also known as Autoimmune Gastritis )

So , if you don’t manage to get more regular B12 injections , here is some information for you . Self injecting is not difficult, and not expensive ( roughly £ 2.00 per shot )

The following reliable German online pharmacies(all registered with the German health authorities) will deliver vitamin B12 depot( Hydrocobalamin) single use ampoules to the UK

versandapo.de ( in Leipzig) use Google Chrome for translation. This is usually the best value pharmacy. U.K. IS Vereinigtes Königreich

Courier cost €9.99

Versandapo has a points scheme . You obtain 200 plus points when you register for the first time. Thereafter you get 1 plus point for every €1.00 that you spend . 250 points represent €2.50. . You can find out how many points you have acquired by going into your account.

———————————————————————————————————————————

apohealth.de ( in Munich) site available in English( union flag flag, bottom left on my device)

Courier cost€20.00 for 10 packets . Lower cost for fewer packets..

———————————————————————————————————————————

apotheke-marienbrunn.de use Google Chrome for translation. also deliver to Australia, New Zealand and USA. Drop down country list is in German. And UK is called. “Vereinigtes Königreich Grossbritannien und Nordirl”

——————————————————————————————————————————-

juvalis.de use Google Chrome for translation

——————————————————————————————————————————.

First of all, register with the pharmacy

When filling out the address form, you will see that the country is already filled out with Deutschland/ Germany . You must first change that to your own country by using the drop-down list to— U.K., UNITED KINGDOM, Vereinigtes Königreich, Grossbritannien , etc — however it is expressed. Do this so that your postcode and the rest of your address is accepted. Otherwise you will be unable to order, and you will be tearing your hair out!

amazon.de ( German Amazon) also sell Pascoe and Hevert , but depending on the supplying pharmacy may or may not supply the UK. you can’t use the pharmaceutical reference numbers to order from Amazon.de. You must use the brand names.

B12 ampoules are only allowed to be sold by registered pharmacies in Germany, so Amazon is, so to speak , a go-between.

———————————————————————————————————————————

The following brands are usually available.

PANPHARMA ( formerly Rotexmedica)

1mg x 1ml ampoules B12 Depot ( Hydroxocobalamin)

Packet of 10

Pharmaceutical reference number1619 9653

Most popular B12 depot ampoule. Good value , but often out of stock. You can usually give your email address , and you will be informed when they are back in stock .

———————————————————————————————————————————

PASCOE b12 depot- package of 10 -1.5mg x 1ml ampoules

Pharmaceutical reference number—0756 8672

Packets of 10 x 10— 1.5mg x 1mg ( 100 ampoules) pharmaceutical reference number— 0756 8695

The Pascoe are much cheaper per packet if you buy the offer of 10 packets. If you inject weekly or more frequently., you will be covered. Otherwise, some ampoules may become out of date.

———————————————————————————————————————————

HEVERT B12 DEPOT 1mg x 2ml ampoules. 1 packet of 10 pharmaceutical reference number 0607 8368.

HEVERT B12 DEPOT 1mg x 2ml 10 packets ( 100 ampoules) pharmaceutical reference number

0607 8380

ENTER THE REFERENCE NUMBERS WITHOUT SPACES !

———————————————————————————————————————————

Use the pharmaceutical reference numbers to order from the pharmacies, it’s easier, but not if buying from amazon.de ( use brand names)

The above brands also sell Cynocobalamin ampoules. They are called B12. — NOT B12 DEPOT which is Hydroxocobalamin . Always enlarge the picture of the packets., to make sure you are ordering the correct ampoule that you want .

If you do need to self inject , then get in touch and I will send you injecting information.

Hi,

Once on injections refuse any further testing for B12. It clearly states in the guidelines not to retest........ nice.org.uk/guidance/ng239/...

I had similar problemes as yourself and although a bit of a battle with my Gp I managed to get her to prescribe every 2 months. Our Drs seem to be totally ignorant of the severity of the condition and our need.

I like many others on the forum now self inject.

Scientist, not medic.

If you're getting B12 injections, then there's no need for further B12 assays. In fact, it's a waste of everyone's time and resources and the results are meaningless.

If you're 'invited' to have another B12 test, then refusal is the simplest way.

If they go ahead against your wishes then that sounds like assault!

None of this is easy, as 'they' hold the cards.

The answer is to treat the symptoms, not the numbers. For example, if your Hb is low, and your MCV is raised, and then put on B12, and the Hb rises and MCV falls, there's the answer.

A serum B12 level wouldn't help, and wastes everyone's time.

When I had my 'annual check' last week, I asked 'what tests are being done?' and got a slightly evasive response, as I suspect the person with the needle didn't have a clue. 'The usual ones' isn't an answer! I eventually wrung it out of her, and commented that serum B12 wouldn't be a bad idea [not on B12, and 73yrs old] and got a further evasion. 'I'd have to discuss it with 'The Doctor'. Given that it's impossible to get an appointment, that seemed pointless. Are we in the least bit surprised my blood pressure was raised?! Funny how at home, it's normal.

Those of us who are B12 deficient are often deficient in other vitamins also.

You should have been prescribed 5mg folic acid if your folate is low...

The cofactor guide attached explains what and why we need to supplement

As mentioned above..self injecting is the way to go...just £1 per injection

I note that just saying Vitamin B6 is, in my view, inadequate.

helvella - Vitamers of Vitamin B6

Some time ago, I mentioned that the form in which we take vitamin B6 is important. I think I linked to this paper below.

Last updated 20/07/2024[

helvella.blogspot.com/p/hel...

Further, the sentence starts with "Vitamin B6 is required in small amounts..."

The word "small" is very odd to use there about a dose of 10 milligrams.

When:

The dose of B12 would most likely be 1 milligram (if injected).

The dose of folate (folic acid) mentioned is 5 milligrams.

(For some, a dose of 5 or 10 milligrams of elemental iron might be enough to maintain iron levels.)

So why single out the 10 milligram dose of B6 for the adjective "small" but not for the smaller doses of B12 or folic acid?

Not what you're looking for?
