3 years later
I know it's 3 years later but I wanted to write this in case someone needed to see. This thread helped me so much when my dad was in the ICU on a ventilator. When they took my dad off of sedation he didn't wake up right away. He is a peritoneal dialysis patient and drugs leave his system much slower.

Donepezil as an aid for PSP
Hi all you good people, A couple of weeks ago a fellow traveller here wrote about her husband with PSP that as his cognition and swallowing declined, his Doctor prescribed Donepezil. Originally, he was on 10 mg of Donepezil which improved his swallowing, alertness and cognition. Two years later when

Update after cardiac catheterization.
First a BIG THANK YOU for all the advice and support. I felt you with me every step of the way. The catheterization showed no narrowing of the major cardiac arteries. But head cardiologist came and said all my symptoms were classic heart attack and clearly something was blocked...so i have a bucket

Night seizures
I was hit by a van 14 months ago. I have made an amazing recovery without much follow up at all from neurology. Yesterday, I had a neurologist assessment for my insurance claim. All was good but now I’m feeling anxious. He asked me if I had woken up having bitten my tongue. I said no but I keep thinking

First ever park run
Well, I’ve finally done it! First parkrun in the bag and it was enjoyable- as everyone had said, brilliantly well organised, friendly and absolutely no pressure. I wasn’t going to take the dog because I wanted to suss it out myself first but she did those puppy dog eyes at me when I put the gear on

prucalopride - Tips
Hi Have been suffering with chronic constipation for that last 2 years, plus pain in the pelvic floor area & rectum. Mixture of pressure & burning pain. My NHS Gastro & physio appointments are currently 3/4mths apart so if I make any kind of improvement it is diminished by the time I get back to them

Fatigue
I was diagnosed with a moderate severe brain injury following a serious cycling accident over six years ago. I recovered really well and only knew about the brain injury following a further scan last year. I function fine generally and you wouldn't really know without knowing me well that anything had

Acceptance is a process
In April my Concussion was something I thought was temporary. If I pushed and worked at the recovery, like any past injuries that I have rehabilitated from, then I would be back to normal in a few months...... I thought that after a couple of months I would be able to return to work at a reduced intensity

Run once a week?
I started C25K back in June, but stopped in Week 3 due to knee injuries caused by going too fast too soon. I had some physio, took time to rest, and did the recommended stretches etc. I restarted last month, doing the Week 1 runs at much slower pace than before, and only running once a week. So far

Week 9 #2 done
I'm so nearly there. I really did not think I would get this far when I first set out. I thought either laziness or injury would stop me but here I am comfortably running 5k in 30 minutes and with only 1 run remaining. I am truly shocked! Hopefully Tuesday morning will see me complete C25k and from

increase dosage?
I think I’m doing the right thing but a little confirmation would help. Last evening I fell down a few stairs (tiredness I think) and have hurt my foot. Nothing broken but badly sprained and bruised. Gave me quite a shock and that seems to have lasted. Before the fall I was on 7mg and was trying to

The Truth about Home Hemodialysis
It has been the hardest month I have ever had in my life. I promised I would write an honest and complete description of the process. I started on October 16th. The first week, I wrote about already. Not too many issues. But in my head, I was so overwhelmed. I was not ready for dialysis mentally in

Grumpy Old Lady in Pain - am I being too cynical?
I had an unpleasant experience at my very recently previous practice. I’ve been back in the UK for five years and only used the practice a handful of times. I had emergency surgery recently and have just had a crash course in how the NHS operates.! Am I being too cynical? and have I got most of the

lowering prednisolone
I have had pmg since last September and have very gradually lowered my dose from 15mg to 1mg. which I have been on for the last six weeks. I decided to try to go without steroids for the last two days and apart from the usual shoulder ach when getting up, so far so good, I am now worried about getting

Propanolol Tolerance
I have mixed tremor (PD plus ET). For my tremor, I find that CD/LD plus propanolol works really well to manage my tremor symptoms. At least that was true until last week when I suddenly stopped getting any effect from the propanolol. No reduction in tremor and no lowering of BP as I have come to expect

CATCH-up-CORNER. NOVEMBER Week 1... Come on in and rest awhile...
November's a time made for fresh air and fun. For kicking up leaves, as we head out and run.. For dodging the raindrops and beating the cold For showing the wind that we're brave and we're bold. **** November's a time for a bit more warm gear To stay warm and dry, that's perfectly clear. For

is anyone else’s toddler like mine?
I feel alone and like my son is different to others, and I don’t know how to deal with it as everyone else’s child is outgoing and doesn’t act like he does. My three and a half year old is extremely stubborn and does not like trying new things, and is very shy around new people. I have spoken to
