Blood test results TSH 16 Ferritin 14

Good evening,

Clearly my TSH & Ferritin is terrible. I had a TT in Nov was on 125 mg but I started on a dose of 150 mg today. I have been given some Ferrous Sulfate tablets to take too. I have kindly been advised that my Ferritin needs to increase to allow my body to abosord my Levo.

Please could somebody have a look at my blood tests and advise if there is anything else I need to be doing to optimize my health & to check the results as I am sadly losing faith in my local gp.

Thank you,

Lissa

I never realised there was so many things to check. I don't recognise what language most of them are written in.

For many people who have suffered the misfortune of losing their thyroid gland, it matters not one jot what any of the blood results are, you may simply be on the wrong medicine.

After my TT for a multinodular goitre in 2005, I was put onto Levothyroxine. After a short while I started to notice getting fatigue after any exertions. After 8 years of believing everything the doctors told me, my symptoms having got to the stage I spent most days in bed scarcely able to move, I gave up on them all and got some NDT. Health increased rapidly but left me with huge weight increase, a kidney lost to cancer and carpal tunnel syndrome.

Nothing to fear if you buy some and try it for a month or two. You're likely to come to the same conclusion as me - stuff the levothyroxine down the loo and buy lots more NDT.

B12, folate and ferritin (as you said) dreadful. But get tested for PA and a full iron panel before supplementing (no obvious signs of PA in bloods but best to be sure). Are there no thyroid hormone results? In any case, you can tell just by TSH that you are severely undermedicated. It would be easier to read if you hadn't entered the same test results more than once. Most of those tests not relevant to thyroid - just a basic full blood count

Sorry, the report from the GP was in a horrible format. What is PA please?

I am sorry but like Panda I can't offer any advice and hope someone else can. Please, though, may I follow you because my ferritin has been at almost exactly the same level as yours for years. I took prescribed iron for about 2 years but the ferritin level barely improved. If anyone offers you advice, other than eating liver etc, I'd be very interested.
