TSH is now 6.85 after spending £1000 on private appts and I feel terrible

So I've gone back onto Levothyroxine after a year on NDT and vitamins ( now on 150mg of levo a day). I did Medicheck test on 1st May and my TSH is up to 6.85 after being below 1 since 2008.

I feel rubbish - cold and achey tired with a brain fog. GP said I need to wait a good two months to retest (end of June now) - how long till I should feel better on new dose, which I've been on since 1 May?

I feel like an idiot for spending so much money on private endo appointments and blood tests and then to go back onto levothyroxine. I would like to investigate taking T3 separately - can anyone tell from my tests below if I'm having trouble converting T4 to T3 and can you please PM me a source for T3? Should I wait to stabilise on new Levothyroxine regime before trying anything else? I was on NDT (erfa) for a year and saw an endo x 3 over the course, plus paid private prescription for erfa.

I've three children and busy job/life and was looking forward to a busy summer of action and now all I want to do is nap (which is most unlike me). I feel invisible. Please help!

Your vitamin D is too low, are you supplementing at all? If not you need to start.

Aim to bring levels up around 100nmol. As you have Hashimoto's using a vitamin D mouth spray is good as avoids poor gut function. Perhaps start with 3000iu. Read up about also taking magnesium and vitamin K2 Mk7 when on vitamin D supplements

What dose of levothyroxine were you on when the blood was taken. These results show you are substantially undermedicated, you can't judge T4 to T3 conversion from these figures as there simply isn't enough hormone. You do not have to wait two months to retest, recent advice is to wait four weeks initially and then retest after six weeks as you approach your optimum dose.

Thanks everyone - I was on 120mg (two tablets) of Erfa for a year until 1st May and then I switched back to levothyroxine and did the blood test a few days later. I had been taking Vit D supplement, but since got blood results a few weeks ago, been on 3000 IU. Really good to hear I don't have to wait another month!

The TSH level was when I was on NDT under an endo - I didn't expect results to be so bad. I'm now on 150 mg of levo a day and sounds like from your advice I should be feeling more like me soon? Thank you.

Tirosint is difficult to obtain within the UK - and expensive to buy.

Assuming you use a prescription to order it, could you let us know where from?

Yes, I buy with prescription(scanned). I bought from few international pharmacies. I think the prices are almost identical(for all doses), maybe the shipping is different.

You can try to ask at; muc@metropolitan-pharmacy.com (Apotheke am internationalen Flughafen München), apotheke@interapo.com (Internationale Apotheke Stuttgart), info@pharmaworld.com (VICTORIA APOTHEKE ZURICH).
