I am waiting to start levothyroxine trial. surgeon said its not necissary as subclinical borderlone. Latest symptom is really dry skin like a dessert on ankle and swollen. And hand look like orange peel. Will Levo imrpve skin?

Also why is TSH so high when T3 and 4 are quute high. Does this not lower TSH?

T4 15.8 (9.1-17.6)

T3 5 (2.4-6)

TSH 4.6 (3.5-4.9) was 5.3

Levo will improve everything as you’ve been advised in replies to other posts you’ve made.

Hair, skin, anxiety etc.

I think it’s also been explained by  greygoose and several others many times that your body is crying out for Levothyroxine and that it could be a long road to getting symptoms remedied and blood levels stabilised.

This is a patient to patient forum. Members have no medical training but we’ve all experienced the difficulties you have.

Of course you must choose whether to take the advice of your surgeon or that of others who’ve travelled this path. In my experience, it’s quite unusual for surgeons to give advice on hormones and blood levels. After surgery, you’re usually handed over to an endocrinologist

I hope you feel better soon.

I understand. No one is ever prepared for an unexpected major health issue. If you have mental health issues as well then it’s even harder.

Try to be strong. I hope that you have the support of a partner or friend at this difficult time.

It’s good to share Sasah - as long as you’re comfortable about it. Being a single mum is hard too. It’s obviously been one thing after another for a long time 😔. Have you talked to your doctor about the way you’re feeling - I mean your mental health?

Have you been offered any help? Counselling, antidepressants etc to help you? Grief or bereavement counselling could be useful.

No, TBH i have accepted whatbhas happened with my brother. I have found the tgyrpid atuff really hard to navigate. Especiallynas i was ill informed and not prepared... i feel like i don't know who i am or trust my own body. Such an horrible feeling. I have lost abputb1/2 my haor volume and its all broken. It has really knkckes.my self esteem and a step to far. The straw that has broken the camels bavk so to speak.

Yes. So much has happened you’ve reached the end of your tether. Not feeling good about your body isn’t easy to cope with. Usually people are prepared for the possible outcomes of thyroid surgery - but you weren’t.

Try to gather all the information you can from this forum and then move forward. Looking back at what might have been doesn’t help. I know it’s hard but get yourself onto Levothyroxine and comfort yourself with the fact that things can only get better x

It’s not pleasant to lose your hair - whether it’s permanent or temporary. Your hair will grow again and so will your self confidence 😘. I’m sure that your little boy loves you just as much regardless. He needs his mum right now - and you need him. Stick together and look forward to sunnier days x
