MACULAR DEGENERATION: Brain can mix natural and artificial vision to help treat blindness — study
It is the most common cause of severe
vision
loss
in the Western world among those aged 50 and over, and its prevalence increases with age. Though there is no cure for AMD, significant recent advancements in artificial retina implants may lead to effective treatment.

Hearing & Jaw still affected after full sight loss
responses=141997960 I have 3 questions if anyone can help: 1- Hearing has been much worse than usual - can anybody tell me if this is to do with GCA and if the steroids will reverse it or is it permanent like the
vision
loss
? Also can patients with GCA develop complete hearing loss?

Eye Tests before and after GCA
Hello all. I developed PMR nearly two years ago and then GCA in February 2018, treated with Pred by infusion. Now down to 7mg / day. I've been reviewed by the eye hospital every 3-4 months and they've never been concerned about what they saw. My last eye test prior to GCA was about 5 years ago, since

Chronic CSR, doctors say treatment not advised, PLEASE HELP
So doctors don't want to advise laser because it would cause permanent scaring/
vision
loss
in the center so they always advise to wait until "the water gets naturally absorbed" and vision is restored.

Bariatric Surgery
I ran into a friend yesterday who I hadn’t seen in a long time. He told me that 10 years ago he had bariatric surgery and was taking B 12 sublinguals since. Really ? I was under the impression that if you had bariatric surgery the only way was B12 injections. Am I wrong ? He said that his wife who is

First post and hoping for advice on test results please
Other symptoms include a lot of weight gain, hair
loss
, dry skin, brain fog and blurry
vision
. About a year ago, I decided to get some private tests done, so that I could show them to my GP.

One Year into PMR/GCA - First Post
Partial
loss
of
vision
in left eye. Began 10 mg prednisolone and 4.5mg c-naltrexone in March 2019 with positive results. Also went on a digestion resistant starch diet. Since I was already gluten free, that part was pretty easy.
