Weight loss, again
Hello all I realise that this post got long, so I'll summarise here, and then expand afterward: thyroid treatment now probably optimal; low resting metabolic rate; how to lose 15-20 kg? So, now, I feel well enough to try to lose weight again. Yes, it is real weight, not retained fluid. I'd like to lose

High 5HT blood labs
Hi. Has anyone ever had high levels of serotonin in their blood work? I am aware it is linked to carcinoid syndrome. However my 5HIAA urine came back negative so this is a bit precarious. Please weigh in, if you know anything about this. TIA.

B12 deficiency not treated
I am new to this website and do not know if I have PA? Went to see Gp in June 2019 as feeling worn out, dizzy spells and generally feeling unwell. (taking into account I have a failed spinal fusion back syndrome and Fibromyalgia). First time I had B12 checked and it showed 79 - told I would need 6 injections

Think carefully...
Hi, please don’t think I’m dismissing anyone’s choice to have weight loss surgery. I’m not. I was in that position 12 years ago. I had my gastric bypass done on the NHS and I so wish I hadn’t. I hope the psychological support is better now, but it was almost none existent when I had mine, and the dieticians

When is it not Parkinson's disease?
I now know it is not a
vision
issue it's a central processing disorder. This along with smell
loss
is a harbinger for dementia. I developed severe insomnia, I once didn't sleep for 48 hours, my polysomnography revealed that I didn't achieve REM sleep and I have central sleep apnea.

Hospice-ask your doctor and look into it.
Our neurologist recommended hospice for my husband in dec 2018. My father was dying and put off until now. We met, he was approved and I can’t tell you how helpful after one visit -all within an hour and a half. His lift recliner had broken, we got a new one this afternoon. He will get a hospital bed

First Post
Hi there. Just an introductory post. My name's Connor, I have FA, and I'm 24. I was diagnosed when I was 9, had spinal fusion surgery at 12/13, I started using a walking frame at 17, and went into a wheelchair at 20. I have a degree in accountancy, I don't work but I've done a bit volunteering. Now a

Aneurysm repair side effects
My main problem is that my face is still numb ,
loss
of
vision
, my eye doesn’t close properly and I am very dizzy. Two MRI scans show that the 17 coils and two stents are doing the job with no leakage. Does anybody else have this very debilitating problem.

I need advice.
She said if it gets worse it will eventually cause
loss
of central
vision
. I am so upset and scarred. I currently drive and have a job and live by myself and have a gorgeous neice and nephew and I’m very independent.

Do I wait, go private or go A&E?
The optician advised that
loss
of pigment may mean eventual
loss
of central
vision
and just told me (after I asked) that to slow it down I should eat foods that have anti-oxidants in and live a healthy lifestyle.

GCA Eye Stroke
It caused
loss
of upper half of
vision
in left eye. My sister had CRAO [central retinal arteric occlusion] in one eye in 2010 losing most of vision in that eye. She recently had BRVO [branch retinal vein occlusion] in the good eye with some temporary
vision
loss
now back to normal.

The vitamin B6 paradox: Supplementation with high concentrations of pyridoxine leads to decreased vitamin B6 function
The taking of B-complexes, and of just B6, has often been disussed here. I, along with several others, have pointed out that high doses of B6 should be avoided as they can cause neuropathy - one of the symptoms that it is sometimes taken to help relieve. This paper, from 2017 and hitherto completely

GROIN PAIN and OTHER THINGS RHEUMATIC
I asked the neuroophthalmologist who evaluated me for temporary
vision
loss
at a prestigious eye hospital in Philadelphia and made the comment that I had read that ophthalmologists were using infusions of Tocilimubab for GCA. His response was" it all depends on who you talk to."
