PBC diagnosis??
Hi, I feel that I have been in limbo regarding PBC diagnosis and wondered if anyone could give me some advice. Following routine blood tests in 2007 (I was referred to a dermatologist as I had a rash on my legs) it was discovered that I had a positive AMA. I was referred to a gastro specialist

Good news and not so good news!
Good news first! I was referred to Addenbrookes to see a Heptologist ( Excellent) as my G P was not happy with gasto consultant. The Heptologist knew all about PBC and they run a special PBC clinic, they have about 5000 patients . He has upped my URSO to 1000mg a day from 500mg. Blood tests results

Life expectancy for PBC sufferers ?
My mum is 56 and diagnosed with PBC. Her consultant has said she has no scarring to her liver yet and she is taking 1000mg of URSO daily. She asked about her prognosis and was told nobody knows, yet her GP said she could go on for decades and now we are confused. This has devastated our family! Can someone

This question just to people diagnosed over 15years, are any of you NOT on Urso?
I was on Urso more or less for 10yrs since diagnosis in 2002 but came off it in August just passed and unfortunately my lfts are on the rise (not that they have ever been normal despite having been on the Urso) and wondered what your experiences are re your lfts and how you feel in general. Incidentally

Slimming World
Hi has anyone had any success with weight loss by following the slimming world diet. I am considering joining tomorrow but am a little daunted due to the fact I take steroids, urso and mercaptopurine for AIH/PBC overlap. I am concerned that the diet will not work because of the medication. I have tried

Who has been living with PBC, over 15 years? Is it possible to develop antibodies to URSO after many years?
How many people have been living with PBC, 15 years or longer? Does URSO still help or is it possible to develop antibodies to this medication?

Dispondant!!!!!
Hi guys, not been on in a while!!! Been on urso since June, seemed to work for a while. My liver results have since got higher again, up at 300. I have also got TMJ in my jaw or so they think. Can't yawn, bite, chew. Losing weight dramatically. In agony all time, pain up in my ear and side of head.

Urso
I read an article on the National Liver Foundation website, written by a Dr. that said, although URSO is widely prescribed all over the world for PBC, the effects of URSO in determining a patient's prognosis is controversial. Does anyone have any information about this?

Does everyone with raised levels of bilirubin have itch?
I ask this question as I am one of the unfortunates with PBC who has always had itch even though my bilirubin levels were within the normal range. Thankfully since been off the urso my itch is fairly mild and quite tolerable and well controlled with just taking about 4 Questran sachets a day. However

Do I still need to take urso since I had my gall bladder removed
Hi all, not been on site for a while but have had very busy 7 weeks. Did house move and been in hospital twice. I had my gall bladder removed 7 weeks ago and 2 weeks ago went back in to have stent removed from bile duct. I am fine except wish I could do without the fatigue. If I walk or do anything

Urso side effects
Over the past week I've been having diarrhea (it comes and goes). I know that can be a side effect of Ursodiol, but I've been on the Urso for about 3 months now, and this only started a week ago. I've been eating the same things as always, and apart from the diarrhea I feel the same as usual. I
