Once on URSO if it is effective do you stay on it for life, if blood results are good is the initial dose reduced?

URSO
Yes, people who are prescribed Urso for PBC need to stay on it for life. The dose is determined by how much you weigh.
Urso is normally for life.
As far as I have found out, if blood results start to show positive improvements, you tend to stay on that dosage as initially it is prescribed as Nissa stated, by body weight.
I was informed by the gastro on my 2nd visit after diagnose that urso can be given in larger doses but I have also read that several years ago it was actually discovered that patients on urso with PBC did no better on a high dosage.
I myself still think that due to bile being a body fluid that acts as a detergent on fats, by eating sensibly and limiting fat in the diet I do think that that would also help in PBC. Apparently when we eat anything containing fat, ie chocolate, the gallbladder empties bile and my theory is that an empty gallbladder then needs to fill up again and not sure if I am 100% correct now but if this is so, then if one was to eat less fat daily then perhaps we would make less bile and it might be better for someone with PBC?
