I stopped taking mine for a year and the consultant showed me on the graph how my blood tests results showed an increase over that time. I have started taking them again and will be tested in a few months time to see if they have come back down again. It has been shown to help some people and as it doesn't have any bad side effects it is the treatment of choice for PBC. I stopped taking mine with the agreement of my consultant and because of the difference shown on the graphs have agreed to start taking them again. If you have a reason not to take them, could you discuss it with your doctor or consultant to see what they think. Everyone is different and being at a different stage might have a better or worse effect to taking/not taking them.

Urso helps the liver to move the bile through the bile ducts and helps to prevent scarring of the liver and damage to the bile ducts. It is prescribed to help to slow down the progression of PBC. If you are thinking about stopping, you should speak to your medical team about why it was prescribed in the first place and what they think would happen if you stopped taking it.

Hi Flynnlogan keep taking the urso til you see your specialist again it is important to take it I have come off it recently and just like last time was off it (during my last pregnancy six years ago) my liver does not like it if my lfts are anything to go by as they are rising so I have to discuss whether or not to go back on it at my next apt in April. You need to stay and fit and healthy for your wee baby and for yourself you are so young got a long life ahead of you. Take care pet. x
