hello everyone out there I don’t usually post but I’m looking for answers at the moment. I’m very confused and feel very alone. My medication has stopped working after two years. It’s called Baricitinib 4 mg. my rheumatologist had to drop it to every second day because I had an infection and now it’

New looking for help
Hi all I'm new here. I have had Polymyalgia Rheumatica since late 2017 which I’m on steroids for. New Member seeking advice on tapering down steroids
Have had PMR for approx 2.5 years. Took ages to get diagnosed and started on treatment due to Covid restrictions, and busy GP and Rheumatologist. Been on prednisolone for one full year. Started on 15 mgs, with a blip around 7mgs which meant going backwards for 2months! Worked hard to get to my current

MTX/Sulphasalazine, heart burn and weird sensory side effects.
Until recently I was taking MTX with Naproxen. I took lansoprazole with the naproxen as directed. In December I was given a course of steroids and came off naproxen/lansoprazole. I had acid reflux and assumed it was in part due to eating too much Christmas chocolate. Once I came off the steroids I went

I have had PMR for five years and have tried to come down on the steroids with methotrexate but that didn't suit me so now I am trying Leflunomide. I am currently on a dose of 12mg of Prednisolone and my rheumy said that I have to get a lot lower than that. I have only been on 20mg Leflunomide for

just saying hello
I’ve just joined this forum because I was diagnosed with GCA in January and thought I would find being connected to others with the same condition helpful and supportive. New to PMR and confused
Hello...new to PMR (diagnosed January 23) and grateful to PMRGCAuk pointing me this way. What a journey already. After the euphoria of pain disappearing almost instantly, I'm now confused at managing symptoms - PMR or steroid side-effects? After a reduction 15 to 12.5mg over 2 weeks ago, jaw pain, water

Tried to use my new stationary bike for just 10 minutes
After much prodding throughout the years from various doctors, a few weeks ago I bought a stationary bike as I finally decided not to be a couch potato anymore, to improve my heart muscle, and to better control my pre-diabetes that I've had long before PMR. On two separate days I've used the stationary

Mortons Neuroma
Hi All I'm having a guided by ultrasound steroid injection for neuroma in my foot. Really not looking forward to this but hopefully it will help. Can I just ask what footwear I should wear to the procedure and how well will I be able to walk afterwards? I've been told I can't drive for 6 hours

Methotrexate
I started on 15mg of Methotrexate on 18th March 2022 and ended up going up to 20mg of Methotrexate in November 2022 the idea of going on them was to cut down the Steroids and eventually come of Steroids. I was on 10mg of Steroids when I started Methotrexate in March 2022 and seem to be fluctuating between

Struggle to get help for Fibro
I was diagnosed with Polymyalgia Rheumatica just over two years ago and am still taking steroids. In November 2021 I tripped and fell and fractured my humerus in 3 places and when I started Physio for this a few months later I noticed I was getting pain in my back. This pain grew worse over the next

Changing from oral to intramuscular prednisolone
This is a shot in the dark as I don't recall anyone else posting about anything similar, but someone out there may be able to advise me. As I posted a while ago, I started on I/M steroids from a private rheumatologist for PMR which had miraculous results. He wrote to my GP asking her to continue injections

Who pressures who to reduce steroids? Apparently it is us to blame ...

I thought I would share my experience. I have just been for the above, having questioned the need for me to be taking Alendronic acid. I was told by my GP that I “might as well” take it when started on Steroids. I hated the ritual of having to get up earlier on the day I had to take it and then when

How can I reduce the swelling in my foot and ankle?
Hello I was diagnosed with RA about six weeks ago and am on 20 mg methotrexate and 5 mg folic acid and have had a steroid injection. I can see improvement in other places but my right foot and ankle are swollen so I can only walk really short distances with a limp. I am worried that I will not be able

Alternative and adjunct medications for RLS
Here's an interesting article on some of the less common medications for RLS. It may be of interest to members who have exhausted all other medication options. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9983500/ Keywords: clonidine, dipyridamole, perampanel, amantadine, ketamine, carbamazepine,

recurring inflammation
I have been off steroids for 6 months. Started to have increasing pain, my GP just called to say my inflammatory markers are up, would I like to try pred again……arghhh. It’s been 4 years on them. Should I ask for referral back to Rheumy? I’m really disappointed.

Anyone have any experience with these injections? I'm currently on xolair but my consultant has suggested changing to these to try and wean steroids.

Painful teeth
Here's another one. Anyone experienced painful teeth -- extreme sensitivity to moderately. cold food? Not related to chewing or pressure on the teeth...strictly just contact. Very unpleasant. I use Sensodyne toothpaste to no effect. I assume it is the steroids.
