Cases 3 and 4 depict severe, symptomatic hypothyroidism induced by taking Iodoral™ in two patients with underlying autoimmune (Hashimotos)
thyroiditis
. In all cases, thyroid dysfunction resolved with appropriate management and discontinuation of the OTC drugs.

Can anyone tell me which hormone blood test is best for Graves disease?
Hi again everyone, I'm still suffering with symptoms after being declared euthyroid since having had 2 previous attacks of
Thyroiditis
/Graves disease. I was wondering if anyone knew which hormone is most affected by Graves.

NHS pages state "autoimmune hypothyroidism may be present with a goitre (hashimoto's disease) . . .
The NHS site goes on to say . . . or without a goitre (atrophic
thyroiditis
). I discovered this whilst looking for NHS recommendations for Hashimotos, which my GP informed me I have. But I do not have a goitre. Perhaps that is what he is waiting to see before treating me?

Recovery is Possible - Assuming You Know What's Really Wrong... Part 3 - Symptoms vs Tests - The Adrenal Piece of the Puzzle
Addison's is one of the autoimmune diseases that can travel with autoimmune
thyroiditis
and with the thyrogastric cluster (more on this when I tackle the immune System tomorrow).

Recovery is possible - assuming you find out what's REALLY wrong...
I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's
thyroiditis
following the birth of my first child in 2002. Since then I have only ever been treated with levothyroxine. I've been treated in the US, Australia and the UK. I can say without reservation that treatment in the UK has been below par at best.

GP appointment coming up
I was diagnosed hypothyroid 6 years ago now but have recently found out I have Hashimoto's
Thyroiditis
through a specialist. I'm taking it he knows, but to be honest I'm not aware of having any difinite test to ascertain this diagnosis.

I am writing a feature about postpartum thyroiditis, and was wondering if anyone would be willing to share their experiences with me? Thanks
I am keen to find someone who would be able to tell me about the symptoms they experienced, if it was difficult for the medics to diagnose (if there was any thought it might be postpartum depression), and how the situation has been resolved (if it has). Please send me a personal message if you may be

Why do we have to put up with such patronising attitudes?
The Endocrinologist and my GP are already aware that I suffer with chronic
thyroiditis
, which has been ignored despite my repeated complaints about the discomfort. I really do wonder if keep going to these quacks is really worth the effort.

Symptoms v Tests Part 1 - what they revealed to me and failed to reveal when taken at face value...
I did an autoimmune panel to see where my Abs were at anti-TPO Abs = 347 >60 (autoimmune
thyroiditis
) anti-TG Abs = negative anti parietal cell Abs = positive (pernicious anaemia) Around this time I was programming symptom checkers for a health business.

First prescription of Levothyroxin. Is 3 months too long to wait to go back for blood test for TSH levels when trying to conceive?
I also requested them to test for antibodies as my Mother and aunts all have Hashimotos
Thyroiditis
. but again I do not think my GP knew what I was meaning maybe as there did not seem to be any info about them on the test results?

Thanks for all the info and support I now have a referral to an endocrinologist and my dose increased
I still have no blood testing for FT3 or anti-bodies (lab won't do it even though I've had a scan confirming
thyroiditis
). But at least things are moving forward (even of my symptoms aren't quite yet). Thanks.

What do I need to ask/request my GP to do now I know I am 'borderline' hypothyroid?
My mother and her four sisters all have Hashimotos
Thyroiditis
and my grandmother had myxoedema so, even though I am not (as far as I know) displaying any sympomts I thought I would get checked just to be safe!
