Point of view from the USA, from both a Lupus patient and GP (I'm them)
Since the medical system in the US is irretrievably broken and I have no idea how or when it will be fixed (and no energy left after nearly 20 years of GP practice [and now, in the past 30 months a triple diagnosis or SLE, Sjogren's and Hashimoto's
thyroiditis
] to go lobbying our useless government,

What does my T3 reading mean?
Hello all :) I have Hashimotos
thyroiditis
and I'm on levothyroxine. I have had several TSH tests over the years and sometimes T4, but rarely T3 so I am not too sure what the readings means. My last blood test in January shows that my Free T3 is 4.10 (range 2.63-5.7).

Positive antibodies in blood test
Looks like I now have autoimmune
thyroiditis
? TSH gone from 0.05 to 0.32 within 6 weeks. Didn't test ft3/4 this time, they were in range last test 6 weeks ago. Could this be result of starting on NDT? Should I stop? prior to that I took 125mg of Levo for years.

Pain in neck, ear and head
The result of which came back as lymphocytic
thyroiditis
. He then referred us to a thyroid surgeon as the pain continued for 10 days. The thyroid surgeon gave us anti inflammatory medication for 15 days. After which, the pain seemed to be gone but it has been reappeared again.

Which brings me to the results of the endo blood tests as follows: Free T3 9.6 pmol/l (3.80-6.00) Free Thyroxine 42.0 pmol/l (8.40-19.10) TSH <0.01 mIU/l (0.38-5.33) and a diagnosis of autoimmune

despite still not testing antibodies.

Thyroid function test - trend analysis
Ultra sound of neck in December 2015 and radio active iodine uptake scan at the same time confirmed inflammation to thyroid gland at that time (subacute
thyroiditis
) - not Hashimoto's.

Saw Endo today - dismissive of blood results
She looked at blood results and said ' Good news, all your bloods are normal' I said what about the auto immune
thyroiditis
? She said no treatment required for that, the American Endocrinoloy association guidelines state no treatment required when bloods in range and yours are.

Coeliac or gluten intolerant? Advice please
I also have autoimmune
thyroiditis
diagnosed 3 years ago. My first endo tested me for coeliac the same day she ordered the test. It came back negative. I then got tested for it again by my GP and I had a gut biopsy when I did the gluten challenge for 6 days. Both came back as negative.

THANK YOU! 😃
But after 12 months of no life and severe symptom & repeated flares of
thyroiditis
I had to do something. It's now paying off and although it's early days just 10 to be precise I can already feel the difference and hope my health continues to improve.
