Acalabrutinib- stopping before surgery and possible side effects.
I believe I will have to stop taking it for a few days before and after
surgery
. Are there any side effects when stopping for that brief period? Thanks!

Tumeric/circumin
She mentioned tumeric/circumin that some people find it very helpful and I asked if it was OK to take it. ( I'm also awaiting hip
surgery
in a few weeks) she was OK with that so have bought what is called clean circumin with no additives bulking agents.

If the metastasis is not severe (ie widespread) why not surgery first?
Hi All, I was just wondering why
surgery
is not more a conventional method in stage 4 metastatic breast cancer? If one has a breast tumor, and only a few areas of metastasis - why isn't
surgery
to remove the breast tumor, and then radation/targetted treatment on the areas of metastasis?

Pelvic pain goes to down the legs..after the
surgery
they told my itres is enlarged and didn't say why. Is it normal to have these kind of pains after a laparoscopy? It has come to a stage I can't walk sometimes.. its very sore. Please help me of you know anything related to these symptoms.

Struggling with feeling like I’m “overreacting” whilst pushing for a diagnosis?
There is also the fact that, reading other people’s stories, my pain has not reached a stage where I would require
surgery
(my heart goes out to every single one of you!). Sometimes it makes me wonder if I’m exaggerating the pain I do feel?

Aortic valve replacement
Good morning , I’m now on the waiting list at Papworth for
surgery
following my latest echo and review with my cardiologist. I note from his letter to the hospital that he has recommended a valve replacement with LAA exclusion .

I wasn’t given a diet/fact sheet when I was discharged from day
surgery
last week so have been googling but there is such differing advice. Every time I eat anything now, I have terrible upset stomach, stomach pains and feel nauseous and faint.

Swap from 4mg pred
Ironically I’ve since read that with such major
surgery
the doctor should have increased the pred dosage as a matter of course. I am apparently being booked in for SSTest at some point. At this stage I have no idea whether I should expect to have the hydrocortisone tapered as with prednisolone.

Test results and lowered levo
By chance the following week I had routine TFTs booked at my GP
surgery
which returned the following results (fasting at 8.40am): TSH: 0.3 (0.4-4.9) T4: 14.7 (9-19) T3: 4 (2.4-6) My dose has still been lowered to 75mcg (on the basis of the TSH being slightly suppressed).

Pcsk9
I have chronic renal failure stage 3 , have had aerotic valve
surgery
, also fairly high ldl cholesterol, prediabetes because of simvastatin, nhs will not authorize pcsk9 inhibitors for me , it seems that the nhs would prefer you to become diabetic than give better drugs without side effects

Blood test results - best practice
The hospital provide labels, the tests are done at my
surgery
and the results are sent to the hospital. The overworked team there are reluctant to share the results and my
surgery
say they cannot see them. I understand that this may be because the computer systems are not compatible.

Surgery and Pred?
I am due to have a knee replacement fairly soon - I met someone else with PMR yesterday and she asked me whether I intended to increase my dose of Pred prior to
surgery
. I'd not thought about this and I hope it's not necessary. Can anyone advise? Thank you.
