Was diagnosed with angina in 2022 stent fitted to LAD. Fast forward to now. Needing knee replacement, had a pre assessment appointment in december, went in thinking I would be offered surgery on jan. Blood test came back as low iron. Saw anesthetist who was happy regards heart but spoke to colorectal team 're anemia had colonoscopy last Feb as bowl cancer test came back positive. Thankfully only found a few bits of diverticulitis. Now just had a c.t. Colonography today and joys of endoscopy tomorrow to see if there are any bleeds. Just thankful that anxiety hadn't triggered any angina as ended up in A&E last January just before scan with angina which wasn't resolved by spray. Keeping everything crossed that iron infusion has upped my iron levels and today's and tomorrow's tests come back clear. I am wondering if the fact I am on aspirin and pantoprezole are anything to do with the low iron, as looking back on past blood tests my haemoglobin levels were higher before taking aspirin. Did managed to get pharmacist at G.P surgery to swap disposable aspirin to the coated ones as acid reflux was playing up, been ok since Ibswapped.

Before my heart issues, my ferrtin level was high (150 g/L). After I was diagnosed and had my stent and put on a load of medication, it rapidly dropped to 30/40's g/L).
Mine has always been put down to very heavy periods (thanks to the blood thinners).
Could that be the reason for you?
My haemoglobin has always been ok until 02/23 when I had a bowel bleed and I had to have a blood transfusion.
Its back to normal now, I'm on ferrous sulphate but my ferritin level is still low.
Past the age of having periods. Made me laugh when I went for the c.t.Colonography yesterday and was asked if I was pregnant as I am 75. Joys of endoscopy this afternoon to see if that throws any light. Do have gastritis anyway.
looks like you are on the right track for finding the cause and a solution for this problem - but i suggest that you request that your ferritin levels get checked along with all the other blood tests - routine treatment for low iron levels tend to fail if ferritin levels are low and left untreated
had a colonoscopy and was found to have colon cancer they told me that at the examination .Then had a ct colonoscopy to confirm had the op.then all clear. My husband had a similar experience as you and colonoscopy clear then they discovered he was B12 deficient now has injections every 12 weeks and is fine .Hope all goes well with you.
