I have chronic renal failure stage 3 , have had aerotic valve surgery, also fairly high ldl cholesterol, prediabetes because of simvastatin, nhs will not authorize pcsk9 inhibitors for me , it seems that the nhs would prefer you to become diabetic than give better drugs without side effects

Is it your kidney specialist that won’t prescribe them or your family doctor? If family doctor can’t you see someone else? If kidney specialist perhaps the fewer medications that have to filter through your kidneys, the better? As I understand it, pre-diabetes is just that and can be reversed with exercise and a good diet of low GI foods to keep your sugars stable. Perhaps you just need a referral to a dietitian. Maybe you have to actually be diabetic to get them. Or be a later stage of CKD. Pre-diabetes is reversible with diet and exercise. Sounds like you really would benefit seeing a renal dietitian who could write up a meal plan individually tailored to your medical needs and also your preferences.
