Second time around
Throughout the runs I suffered with painful legs to one degree or another, principally
shin
splints
. I acted on most of the recommended advice, gait analysis, proper fitted shoes, stretching, strengthening etc.

W1R1 with my dad
My dad has struggled with
shin
splints
, calf and Achilles issues in the past, so this is really about him building into his running, preventing pain and enjoying running for the sake of running. I’m merely his guide, his person to talk to and his own personal coach.

Painful shins
Since having to increase thyroxine to 175mcg I have been experiencing what I can only describe as
shin
splints
! Is this a known side effect of thyroxine?

Question about Rest Days
I have had to skip a week on a couple of occasions with the beginning of
shin
splints
, but they never got bad. I am doing JuJu’s Magic Plan but doing each week twice because I reckon I am better off with slower increases, because of being overweight and in my youth sport gave me bad knees.

Psychological Aspects of Running
I had
shin
splints
and had to rest up for around 2 weeks or so, prior to that I was sick and had to stop for around the same amount of time. I went out last week and did week 5 run 1 again. I was super slow because I didn’t want to hurt my shins again.

Cramps... actually shin splints
I have hit the dreaded
shin
splints
. What I thought were cramps whilst running, actually seem to have manifested into
shin
splints
so I'm going to do the recommended thing and take a week off +. I have ibuprofen, compression socks, ice packs etc, and I'll try and rest up as much as possible.

Shin splints
(
Shin
splints
) 🤷🏻♀️ Should I wait until they are no longer hurting before running again?

Differences in those with or without a thyroid
One area tends to confound me a bit here. I’m in the US and focused on thyroid cancer and those of us who have had thyroidectomies. This is one of the best thyroid forums around (excellent information, great mods and caring support) and I often refer folks who come to our US thyroid cancer forum here

Why don't Doctors recognise the chronic after effects of Meningitis?
Hi Everyone. So I'm sat watching the news and they are talking about the effects of 'Long Covid'. Doctors are actually recognising the chronic symptoms patients are experiencing and planning how to improve their care. Covid has been around how long? How about Doctors listening to the Chronic symptoms

Do shin splints mean I have to stop?
Everything I have read points to
shin
splints
and all the advice online seems to recommend no running for weeks! I am just getting going with C25K and I really don’t want to stop so soon in! Are there any other options??? Any help gratefully received! 😟

Feel a Little bit Lonely and scared.
But my GP Felt my
Shin
and Said they are
Shin
splints
because he can feel the lumps. But I red that it might be symptoms of MF so im scared I allready progressed even though I don't have a official diagnose of pv yet.

If i did it - anyone can
I have always put off doing something like this using the excuse of
shin
splints
and a bad back. The first 2 weeks were really tough and painful but after that I haven’t looked back. Advise to anyone is to just keep putting one foot in front of another and get through it.

Back after 2 weeks shin splints rest, WK5R1
Okay so I took a good while off, icing my shins and really didn't get back out there until there was ZERO pain, which seems to have worked. Today's run went well, I definitely didn't do the whole thing and was very patchy but idc. I want to go slow, ease back into this and slowly work my way up. I will

Biological therapy
Hi I have Rheumatoid arthritis for 46 years. I have had many joint replacements and too numerous treatments to mention, I was on Methotrexate for 20 years, but it damaged my liver, then Azathioprine for 5 years, which was no longer effective. Been on Prednisolone for last 6 months due to Covid

Finally
I gave up on week 3 twice due to
shin
splints
and on my 3rd attempt
shin
splints
stopped me on week 1. I thought that was it, running was not for me. Then came the lockdown and we started cycling as a family to make sure my teenage children were exercising.
