Low T3 identified in deaths from heart attack
Our findings confirm the importance of testing thyroid function in these patients, as already recommended by the guidelines on diagnosis and management of [acute heart failure],” the researchers concluded. “In addition, future studies should be considered to evaluate the treatment of selected patients

If it is not asthma, could there be something wrong with my lungs? 🤔🤔
Hi. What is your opinion on this? Do you think I have Asthma or something else (perhaps a lung problem)? 🙂 I'm 19 years old and have been significantly out of breath always, from the age of 6/7. It was not until I was about 15, that I was officially diagnosed with asthma by the gp after I had an asthma

Things that slow me down
As I enter month#2 of my plan I must come to grips with the realization that there will be some slow downs and some set backs. I wanted to get in a nice bike ride last night and a late cold front blew in. It was cold and very windy and my stationary bike is out on my porch so no ride for me and the cold

Can anyone put my mind at rest
Admitted to ICU beginning November (I can't remember) finally diagnosed with meningococcal pneumonia, cavitating pneumonia (I was fit & never smoked) so took a while to find. One full lung not working 75% of other lung not working, contracted sepsis twice. Just about to go on ward when I deteriorated

Flushing after eating
I’m wondering if anyone can help or share some of their wisdom. I’m currently diagnosed with autoimmune thyroid disorder, I take 175 of levothyroxine daily. Of late I have been getting random flushing approx 20-30 minutes after eating . I would feel shaky, very cold and need to lie down. Sometimes

Any advice welcome.
Hi, is there anyone like me that when diagnosed with heart failure had to lose over 100lbs in weight? Would love to hear tips for how to get safely started with exercise. I'm worried as I am so inactive that any form of exercise is going to make me worse as my anxiety is also bad at present.

Cold water swimming
I started sea swimming early morning in September last year and continued going after being diagnosed with PMR. On the days I don't go I find my aching and stiffness recur - has anyone else found cold water swimming helpful? It is supposed to have anti-inflammatory effects and may even stave off dementia

Irritation making me cough
Despite cxr, ecgs, bloods etc which are all clear i am still coughing but not spontaneous cough but seems to come from below sternum. I have a sense of irritation there. Also feels hard to get a good breath. I am a lifelong asthmatic but this is not the same. Anyone else get the need to cough so

Cold water swimming and Raynaud's symptoms.
Cold Water swimming and Raynauds symptoms - ? I am new here and wondering if it could be detrimental to go cold water swimming when it triggers Raynaud's symptoms? Lots of swimmers get mild symptoms and manage them with protective measures - wondering if anyone else here has experience of cold water

CAPD and PAIN
Hi My First post here, sorry if I screw up. I had a standard CAPD line inserted and then all training and a Baxter machine to receive APD. But the line never worked very well. The doctors decided that it was because I am so tall (6'2" is not that unusual?) Anyway the faulty line was removed and a

I'm BACK
So far so good! Haven't lit up since last Saturday and everything tastes and smells so good. Hey, it real hard but I'm determined this time. I've had bronchitis 2x and when you can't breathe, you can't smoke. So, I decided this is the time! Please send prayers and any positive feedback. Thank you.

My Interesting Covid Experience
A little over a week ago I felt extreme chills and cold. It was really hard but lasted only for about a day (even less) and then I was just a little sick, like a regular flu. I never developed cough or lung symptoms. I did the Covid test and it turned out positive. What is interesting is that all my

Any side effects from flu jab?
I'm new here. Diagnosed with afib 5 months ago. Still freaking out about it. I recently had a flu jab and have had lots of headaches, palpitations and dizziness. Has anyone else had this happen? I'm on a Eliquis and blood pressure meds. I'm sensitive to beta blockers, so cardiologist doesn't want me

Existing heart failure drug may treat potential COVID-19 long-hauler symptom.
In a new study out of University of California San Diego School of Medicine, researchers found a drug used for heart failure improves symptoms associated with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, otherwise known as POTS. This complex, debilitating disorder affects the body’s autonomic nervous system
