My ICU Journey
I was admitted to ICU on July 9th 2023 in the UK with
Respiratory
Failure
as an effect of Covid and Pneumonia. I was immediately placed in an induced coma which lasted 2 months as my organs were failing and I was transferred to an alternative hospital for ECMO treatment (Life Support).

Tired all of the time now.,,
I am sorry if I am repeating myself but all though I am 80 years old, up until this winter I was fully independent, I drive a car, and I could work a small allotment. I am now becoming breathless without exertion and I tend to nap anytime that I sit down. I have seen a Cardiologist this month and am

An EP’s view on atrial fibrillation after his own experience
The lecture of EP John Mandrola’s testimonial made a huge difference when I was first diagnosed with the condition. The man knows what he’s talking about, because not only is he an experienced electrophysician, but he also experienced AF himself. I love to share his thoughts with this wonderful group

BNP 1800
I have atrial fibrillation and my BNP tests that indicate risk of heart failure was 800 and is now 1700. The stats I have looked at are grim eg 80+% chance of death within 10 years and 50% for 5 years ( at around 2000 BNP near my numbers). Does anyone know if there is a treatment to lower BNP to under

Newbie - Constant bradycardia afib/arrhythmia symptoms?
Hi! I'm curious if anyone has/had constant 24/7 bradycardia afib/arrhythmia? What symptoms did you experience? Short background, husband had an ICD implanted 6 of Feb and it has caused/triggered constant afib (reading medical research I now understand these procedures are known to in cases be pro-arrhythmic

Mixed feelings about hospital too busy to review 12 months after ablation.
I am now 12 months NSR after successful ablation and experiencing mixed feelings."Reviewed without contact .No follow up planned." If I run into problems contact them & they will arrange a follow up. I just have a few questions. 1.I need to know what I can expect from now on. 2.As it over 2.5 years

Back Pain
Can anyone tell me what painkillers I can take for persistent low back pain. I have tried most of them but for some reason nothing seems to work. I have heart failure and CKD, so can’t take Ibuprofen. At the moment I’m on dihydrocodiene and paracetamol which I know is strong but unfortunately it doesn

Why has my husband been given Candesartan when he hasn’t got high blood pressure . It must be for his stage 2 heart failure I presume .
My husband has been given this drug along with digoxin to add to his other meds , bisoprol , antorvaststin , Lansoprazole, edoxoban and dapagliflozin. He ll be rattling soon . He has been relatively stable . The ecg showed heart rate of 100 so I presume the cardiologist wants to lower it further . Is

Warning Signs Before My Cardiac Arrests
Hi -- after I posted the description of my 4 cardiac arrests, a couple people asked for more details, like what early symptoms or warnings I had. So here goes. In the year before my cardiac arrests in July of 2018 I was awoken 4 times with breathing difficulties. I simply couldn't catch my breath

Good News
Well I am not sure if you’d call it good news, but it is for me 13th was the FIRST birthday of my new heart so to speak lol that’s what I call it One year ago my EP found a way to save my life. I was unable to walk, and I had had a cardioversion that not only failed, but almost finished me off
