Question need personal experience on this.
I've lost 60 pounds this year, trying to
quit
smoking
, watching my salt intake, I'm a 31 year old male. Anxiety sucks and I know this is a grey area but I'm trying to weigh my options.

Not sure
I think it's been 16 months or so now that I
quit
smoking
. I am very happy to forget. :) I do have it written down somewhere but frankly I just don't care very much when it was. All I care about is that it was in the past and stays there. Stay strong everyone who's new to quitting.

Exercise? Lucky You!!!
That's why it's not very nice to hear all about making things better for myself if u gave up
smoking
and went jogging!!! Even smokers who manage to
quit
without using the clinics still have the support of family and friends. How many could give up smoking without any help?

ECigs how bad are they for an emphysema patient?
I'm trying to get my father to
quit
smoking
and thought that the ecig could be a solution to help quit. Replace the cigs with a ecig and then slowly wean off of the ecigs. But, I know they still have to be irritants for the lungs and that they really can't be good. Is it a bad idea?

Helping a relative . . .
She successfully
quit
smoking
10 years ago after 45 years of smoking 20 a day. We try and ride off the positive of that to encourage her but it appears her addiction to unhealthy eating habits is stronger than the smoking habits she used to have.

16 Days and Counting
I finally decided to join the forum after spending the last couple weeks of my
quit
reading other people's experiences. I've
quit
smoking
cold turkey, and alone. Everyone around me smokes, it's impossible to avoid, since I live in a country that still has very relaxed laws.

New to the MSAA Family
I changed my eating habits to a more healthier diet (which I call Change of life - I love food especially sweets), the Mediterranean Diet, trying to excercise more, mostly walking,
quit
smoking
(very hard as smoking relaxed me), trying to avoid stress, not having the energy to do the things I used to

I
quit
smoking
two years ago however, 5 days a week I've been in my work pickup truck right next to a co worker smoking about ten cigs a day. I was one of the people who thought second hand smoke was harmless.

Advice 10 months into quit
Every
quit
before my attitude was that yes, I was not
smoking
, but I was depriving myself of something I enjoyed. That is addiction. Your mind convinces you that enjoy it Eventually I realised the only person I was kidding was myself by hiding it. So I had a choice.

Question? My father has a 47% lung function is that the same as a Fev1 of 47%
Also, if I can get him to
quit
smoking
does he still have a few years ahead of him? He currently has no issues breathing. He doesn't get out of breath while moving at all. He can walk around all day with out being out of breath or on oxygen. He has had this condition for 4 yrs that I know.

Graduation run
I quit my job to take the summer off with my family,
quit
my 30 a day
smoking
habit, and started c25k after 20 years of no exercise and poor diet. Like most people here, I didn't really believe I'd ever run 5k, but with each passing week I felt better in myself and wanted to push on.
