Over medication!
Excuse me I am in a very reflective mood. My father died last weekend. He was 95. I cared for him for 12 years fetching a huge bag of tablets from the doctors every month. He was on tablets for heart failure, chronic kidney disease, statins (of course) then tablets such as quinine for cramps etc etc

Trying to wean off Mirapexin nightmare.
To tide me over whilst trying to come off mirapexin, because of augmentation problems, my gp prescribed me clonazepam and quinine . I went home with high hopes that this was going to stop the torture I was going through, and also let me sleep. However, it made my symptoms so much worse that I was awake

Warfarin and Quinine Anyone had issues?
I am now on extra tablets Quinine but it does state that they can affect warfarin as well as the heart rate. Does anyone have any issues with the mix. I have got them as I have been getting nightly cramps in the legs and feet. Be Well

I've had this for about 20 years, but it's got worse (and in my arms too) since I've been on hrt. I've tried a load of meds*, but so far the only thing that helps (sometimes) is mollasses. It's driving me nuts, messes with my already messed-up sleep (I have CPTSD, and Asperger's, and idiopathic neuropathy

Quinine Sulphate
Does anyone know if Quinine Sulphate is used for Lupus or Connective Tissue problems? I was prescribed Plaquanil/Hydroxychloroquine but has a horrific reaction to this but I know I can take Quinine Sulphate as I took it at very high dosages when treating Lyme and co-infections in 2006-2008

G6PD?
I wonder if anyone is aware of a connection between G6PD deficiency and CLL. I have not been tested for G6PD but my kids were, and found positive. I personally have taken aspirin and quinine, and eaten fava beans. I was diagnosed with CLL 5 years ago. I am curious whether other members of this group

Dread going to bed
I have had RLS for several years but managed to control it with quinine. About four years ago I began to suffer from REM sleep behaviour disorder. The RLS got much worse and I am now on 2mg of Clonazepam and 4mg of Ropinerole. Even with this level of medication most nights I pace up and down and

Professor Graham Hughes' Monthly Blog August 2016
BLOG August 2016 What a beautiful August! And what a difference a month makes! I generally regard August as early Autumn rather than summer. Not this year! For me it was good to be back at work after my illness. This month, September, is the start of the academic year, usually peaking in October,

Just prescribed Quinine
Hi, I have viewed some of your posts and thought I would open myself up to you. Over the past few days I have endured the worst restless leg and arm attacks in my life. I have always had it in a very mild way, and rarely, but over the past few weeks it has increased to very intense levels (no sleep in

Better than foot wraps? I think so... :)
Hi to everyone! :) I've been following this forum for a couple of weeks because like you all, I struggle with RLS. I've recently found some ways that seem to be relieving my RLS and I want to share them. BTW, I'm 72 female. First, after reading about foot wrapping I've been doing some research about

Professor Graham Hughes' Monthly Blog May 2016 (thyroid is mentioned several times)
Dear all, enclosing the latest blog from Professor Hughes' who as well as being pretty forensic about unearthing Hughes Syndrome/APS - Sticky Blood - Antiphospholipid Syndrome, also does actively investigate the patient for any hint of thyroid problems and other conditions related, especially autoimmune
