JUST SAYING HI
Hello everyone, I don't talk much because I don't often have anything to say, but I felt a need to pop in and say hi! I enjoy reading the posts you all leave. I just finished reading the one on Vitamin D. It was interesting. I was recently given 1000 iu of vitamin d to take each day because I had a slight

Flu Vaccine and anticoagulants
I went into Boots for my flu vaccine, and paid for it as I was told NHS did not know when they would be ready yet ( I had no prob last year). Since last year I have been taking Dabigatran. After quite a wait I was finally told that I would need to have it subcutaneously but that the pharmacists had

Flu jab
Does anyone have any idea if it's advisable to have flu jab if your facing going through ivf treatment? My next appointment is November to sign all ivf paper work and I'm hoping will start IVF soon after that. I usually get flu jab just to reduce risk of getting flu not because I am more at risk (

Flu Vaccination Time
Hi folks, it's that time of year when we have to start thinking about flu jabs and the government have issued their vaccination advice (see the links below). The general advice is that immunosuppressed people should have the flu jab unless you are allergic to it. However, please talk to your GP and

Influenza Vaccination
Hi All, I just got a letter from the local surgery stating that I'm entitled to the free flu jab. I had a transplant last November and I seem to remember getting advice from the liver transplant co-ordinator about vaccines, but I've completely forgotten what that was. Should I or shouldn't I. Thanks

Flu and other vaccines
As I'll be entitled to get the flu vaccine due to being on Hydroxycarbamide I wondered what else is worth having? Is it worth getting the pneumonia one as well? I don't want to go into winter catching all sorts of bugs with a lowered immune system.

Fly jab advice
I'm currently successfully (fingers xd) reducing Pred for PMR (down to 8.5 mg on slow taper). I normally get a flu jab (I'm 52 no other health issues) but wonder what advice on this is? I had a (v mild) suspected case of shingles a few months ago, so I'm not sure what to do as want to avoid the poss

Flu jab
I have not posted for a while, not been feeling too good. I have been gradually reducing the preds. I am finally down to 5 mg a day, I was on 60 mg last December. The withdrawal has been a nightmare of side effects, pain, depression and work, just kept going with the aim to get of the steroids.

Oops I did it again.........
Or so sung US warbler Britney Spears and it looks like I have too. On August 16th I completed my third half ironman triathlon (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride, 13.1 mile run) in aid of Meningitis Now although not so much 'oops' as why the heck am I doing this. When I was first discharged from hospital

Is a universal flu vaccine on the horizon?
Medical research scientists are getting closer to creating a universal flu vaccine. This brief article reports the latest progress along with a good description of why achieving this has proved so very difficult. It's worth reading for those that are interested in how our bodies learn to recognise

Vaccinations and Flu Shots
Have any of you had adverse reactions after taking the Tdap vaccination? I was told back in 1996 that I should never ever have a flu shot because of all the steroids that I was given to keep me going. Now I have my 1st grandson due in September and I'm told that if I want to see him I must get this vaccination

results of bloods confuse me
Hi I forgot to introduce myself so am editing this, sorry if you have already read it! I am 65 and retired. I wrote a little while back listing my symptoms and someone (I think the administrator?) suggested I come back with results of private blood tests I was having done. Well the results are back

Hi I think this is my first post on the fibroaction site though I have dipped into it once or twice to answer other people's posts. I'm a 65 year old woman who was diagnosed with fibro 5 years ago. I have also been diagnosed with hypermobility syndrome, osteoarthritis in C3/4 and C5/6/7 of my spine
