Highs and lows of life with arrhythmias
On Sunday I posted a lovely photo of the water when out on a boat and today my view is of the nurses station in CCU/ICU. I spent the night here again after going into AFlutter then AFib last night. It eventually settled back into NSR after extra meds but had another wobble this morning. I had magnesium

Second Post-Bypass Review – Getting There Slowly
So yesterday I went for my second review and to pick up the results of a host of blood tests a week ago. Again the (new to the practice) GP was very through checking BP, weight, pulse and oedema. It was felt that the oedema had cleared (post-op electrolyte imbalance) and that I could now drop the Frusemide

Getting old is no fun!
Having been on pred for PMR since Jan 2014, and then developing Arthritis, I thought that that was the lot, but Oh no. In March I developed Anaemia, and am now on 8 weekly blood transfusions. Then last week the real fun started. The glaucoma clinic said that my eyesight was borderline for driving, so

Endo and no periods anymore??
Hi guys, I’ll be really short here because I’m in a right mess regarding the endo, my hormones etc. So I’m 37 years old and 15 months ago my periods just stopped. They were never regular and the zoladex injections in 2008 completely changed everything in a bad way but now there’s nothing. But I still

Hi, Sorry in advance for long post but at a loss! I’m 26 with a history of PCOS and anemia. I had a baby in December and felt horrendous throughout pregnancy, haven’t improved since. Got bloods done when I was 7 months gone, due to being tired and swollen, was told “normal” by receptionist. When I

My father had radiation that overlapped his docetaxel treatments. He got very sick from it. Developed rash, fever of 101.3. Lost 24 pounds blood count below 2900 and very low iron and potassium to the point of blood transfusions and hospitalization. The dr said was the combo of two radiation and

Confused with diagnosis
So I am a little unsure of what my actual diagnosis is.... I was diagnosed with polycytheamia nearly 2 years ago which I have now 6-8 weekly venesection for. My initial hb was 195 with a hct of .54! I regularly see a haematologist/oncologist and with my recent result I had a hb of 130 with normal hct

Advice after all else is failing
My brother has cirrhosis and has been having tranfusions due to low platelets for the past year and this has kept him out of hospital. Suddenly the transfusions are not working and he is now so weak he needs a wheelchair. He has had an iron tranfusion and ultrasound and now a camera down his throat but

Good Morning My son is today one year post BMT. Unfortunately his platelets count has remained low, 13: Way too low. However, he has to go from Canada to the USA, and I think it's important he a travel insuranse, in case he needs a transfusion while in the States. His doctor wants him to get a platelet
