I got a call from the hospital this morning telling me my blood results showed my iron levels being very very low so I need iron infusions! I heard the word and thought omg...sounds too scary. She explained they'll put a needle in my hand and start the transfusion in my arm il be there for at least an hour. I'm really and don't really know what to expect. Anyone here had one or knows about this?

Iron deficiency
I haven't had it done but it doesn't sound too bad - a bit like an injection but takes a bit longer. Once the needle is in, I don't think you will feel it. I bet you will feel much better after though 😃. Let's us know how you get on
Hi liver-bird yes I also hope it's not too bad once the needle is in. I will let you know how I get on thanks for your nice reply 👍🏼
It should be like having a blood test and the improvement in how you feel should be much quicker than supplementing with iron tablets which is problematical with a damaged gut.
Good luck
Thanks shonaha
You’ll be fine, it’s like taking bloods except going the other way and no discomfort apart from the little scratch from the needle.
Hi SID123, Yes, I have had several. I'll PM you.
I'm sat having my second one now!quite a coincidence u messaged today
What is the reason u had several if u don't mind me asking?
The reason I had several is it takes time for the iron utilisation and erythropoiesis, so needed several. Apparently not unusual (as you say, you're having your second one). Hope you feel better soon.
Orite..some people have symptoms after they say. Can body aches - pain down the legs be one symptom
