Support for all....

I joined this forum a few months ago when it became clear that ny Husband was in the end stages of liver disease. I watched, read and took so much advice and comfort from various posts. I only posted once and your responses were hugely helpful.

The last 9 weeks have been by far the hardest of our lives with 4 separate in-patient admissions (longest lasting 5 weeks), a trip to the Royal Free for a transplant assessment, 36 units of blood transfused and so many tests and procedures.

My Husband lost his battle last Tuesday with this awful disease. We met when we were 15 and have been soulmates ever since. He was 48.

I considered leaving this site but have decided to stay on for a while to see if I can offer any comfort or help to others going through it themselves or to their carers. Associated conditions such as haemolytic anaemia, leaking heart valve, renal failure, HE, infections all contributed.

I hadn’t left my Husband’s side over the last 7 months as he became so poorly and we were closer towards the end of his life than we have ever been and for this I am grateful.

This site and the support it gives so many people can not be underestimated - you sometimes don’t need or want the experts view, more reality. I know that’s what I was desperate for.

If I can help even just one person/couple by staying on here, it will have been worth it but right now, I wish all those reading this post, the best of fortunes as you continue on your difficult journeys.

So sorry for your loss. Like you I found this an amazing place for all sorts of reasons. You don't always take in what you're told at the hospital & then overthink it when you get home ( in my case home alone ). This site was a lifeline for me @ any time night & day. I've sat here typing away whilst laughing & crying but always felt my spirits lifted a little. My partner was lucky to have a transplant in 2016 & is doing great but I still look on here a few times a week to see if I can help. Sometimes just acknowledging a post is enough.

love to you & yours.xx

Hello Power, may I firstly offer my condolences for your very sad loss. I felt I had to respond to your post as you strike me as being a most wonderful human being. Your strength and commitment are both highly commendable and a inspiration to others.

When you picked upon the Nickname "Power68" you certainly picked a very apt name. You strike me as being a very powerful and strong lady. You've been there by your husband's side every step of the way. This must have been such an emotional journey for you, and here you are wanting to reach out and help others. I am lost for words and full of admiration and respect for you at this difficult time.

Please allow yourself time to grieve, and come to terms with this very sad situation.

Helping others has it's own rewards and can help heal your own wounds at the same time. You have a story to tell, and memories to keep alive. Talk of your journey, and share with others. There's a human interest story here and you've got a Nickname to live up to now.

What a lady. xx

What a beautiful post from an amazing, strong woman.

Your desire to stay on and offer help/support is to be admired.

I am deeply sorry for your loss.

I am caring for my mum full time who has end stage cirrhosis and just recently diagnosed with HCC a liver tumour.

I am an only child and we are so very close. It’s breaking me to see her deteriorating.

The most frustrating thing is she is otherwise “healthy” lungs, heart, good. No diabetes or high blood pressure etc

Unfortunately though a few months ago she fell and has a fracture in her back which is not really healing and if anything becoming worse and the pain is becoming unbearable for her and therefore affecting her overall health.. if that makes sense..

Her doctor has told me a few months and I just can’t accept this. It’s so difficult.

I’m sorry to have gone on. When you’re comfortable I may ask you some questions about what led to your dear husbands passing.. as in what complications or symptoms signaled the end 😔

Thank you again for making it comfortable for me to express my thoughts x
