I did it!
I gathered up all my courage and met with my son and daughter in law and my two grandchildren at an outdoor cafe which seemed to be well set up for social distancing. It was our first social outing since shielding ended and all felt very strange. I know my son’s family have been keeping themselves to

Coffee up!
I don’t have MS in my family history but with my third son I received two units of blood due to bleeding out the doctor said I should’ve had a third but I declined. That was in 2007 I wonder if MS depending on the stage you are at is transmittable through blood transfusions? Just a question, but a thought

My mums really poorly 😢
Hey ladies I'm not really sure where to start. My mum was waiting to start caelyx for a 2nd recurrence after only finishing carbo and taxol at the end of march. She started getting ascites again and when she saw her consultant 3 weeks ago he asked for an urgent drain and ct. She was supposed to go back

Covid Antibody/HF Research
Afternoon All. I've just had an antibody test and it's come back positive - I had all the then "minor" symptoms (including loss of taste & smell) back in March, but didn't get the main test done then as I didn't have a fever or cough. I'm just wondering if there's any research being done on Heart Failure

Sweet's syndrome during induction chemotherapy for acute myeloid leukemia – case report and mini review.
In 15-20% of cases, Sweet's syndrome (SS) develops secondary to cancer, the blood cancer, acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), being the commonest. Out of the total number of malignancy-associated cases, 85% have blood cancer. This is a case of a 47-year-old woman who developed skin lesions that appeared

2019-2020 a comparison
following two emergency admissions, failed chemo, massive reduction of platelets and heamaglobin, weekly blood transfusions monthly IVIG in 2019, I find myself taking 'targeted therapy' on week 16 of 'shielding' and pondering do I really want to go back to work? meanwhile, family life rolls on!

I have had MPN for 26 years with a variety of diagnosis. I have had PV followed by CML then now MF. About 2 years ago I had my bike electrified. I have been hiding with pride for most of this pandemic feeling I can only emerge from my home when everyone else has gone home. Tonight I did the Tissington

Self treatment for PA
Like so many PA sufferers I now do my own IM jabs. For me this has been very easy on a practical level. I have enough medical knowledge being a retired physiologist. However I have not as yet informed my GP surgery. My B12 jabs were at 2 monthly intervals on the recommendation of a Haematologist and

Update: Morbid obesity, PCOS, weight regain and more… 🥴
Hi. I used to post quite regularly on here a couple of years ago. I'm sure some of the OG members recognise my username. I'm 22 years. I'm ashamed to admit, I'm back over 300lbs. I'm not disclosing how much by, haha. 😔 For reference, in 2017, I got down to 250lbs. I'll let you do the maths. I have

A Genetic Cause for Iron Deficiency
We see a steady stream of posters here who have iron-deficiency. Iron-deficiency is an important issue in hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism can reduce our ability to absorb iron. Low iron (typically low to very low ferritin) prevents thyroid hormone being handled well by the body. Many times, low iron

B12
What would be the effects of my wife being taken off B12 injections when she has pernicious anaemia, she’s previously had two transfusion and a iron transfusion many thanks in advance. My question is because she had her b12 injection but had to have bloods done at the same time

Struggling with depression
Hi, I was reccomended this site by a social worker. I'm hoping maybe to find support on here. I'm a 21 year old female, and I've struggled with anxiety pretty much my entire life. About a year ago I was diagnosed with postpartum depression. Soon after, I started getting sick, and on December 3rd, 2019

Severe itching after kidney transplant
I had my transplant last month and I had two blood transfusions. One bag the first time then two bags the second time. I’m not sure if it’s the medications but I have had full body itching since I left the hospital. My doctors tried benedryl, Zyrtec, hydroxyzine pamoat and I have put anything from cortisone
