I gathered up all my courage and met with my son and daughter in law and my two grandchildren at an outdoor cafe which seemed to be well set up for social distancing. It was our first social outing since shielding ended and all felt very strange. I know my son’s family have been keeping themselves to themselves so I was not overly concerned. I was very impressed when the girls aged 5 and 2 did a demonstration of hand washing which involved pretending to be various sea creatures! They had both certainly got the right idea anyhow.. It really was lovely to have a change of scenery that didn’t involve blood tests and transfusions
I hope you are all able to get out too I admit to having been right on the edge of my comfort zone but it was oh so worth it
Take care and stay safe, Jan

There! you've taken the plunge - good for you. It'll get easier from now on.
I take your point about blood tests etc. I think the riskiest thing I've done recently is taking taxis to and from a venesection appointment (I don't drive to them in case I get a fit of the wobblies on the motorway afterwards).
I think that’s wonderful. At some point, we have to get on with our lives, even though it might look a lot different than it was pre-COVID-19. I’ve seen my adult daughter twice since March. She lives about 40 minutes away. The last time we just walked outside with her dog for a while, then I went home. She even let me give her a quick hug with our masks on. I know she’s been careful, since she works from home and orders all her groceries. The only time she goes out is to drop off her dog for grooming or doggie day care, and picking up prescriptions at the pharmacy.
Well done you Jan... it’s very scary the first time being amongst people .....it makes you feel so incredibly vulnerable ...But what a wonderful occasion for your first outing. ....the girls must have been so excited to see you. I’m sure it was a very special day... recharges your batteries....
Hi Jan, like you I made the decision to have some normality, last weekend. Grandson and Daughter came to stay for 3 nights. They live down south so a day doesn't really work. We have had a fantastic time. Walking through the fields. Playing in paddling pool - somehow I'm always getting drenched. He is 5 and for those few days you definitely don't have time to think about mpn's etc.
Hey Jan , , I can feel you teetering on the edge there but good for you for finding the courage to meet up. . Sounds like you had a fun time and as you and others say helps you forget about health issues and treatments for a few hours. .
Your Grandkids sound good fun I like the idea of them pretending to be sea creatures , I guess an Octopus washes it's hands 4 times 😃.
Well done. My best memory post lockdown is sitting with my grandkids on the floor and having a McDonalds! Not my favourite food but it tasted so good that day! Xx😻😻
