Thrombocytopenia

Hi there, sorry I have no experience of this so no advice to give but just wanted to send you virtual Cwtches and hope that you feel much better after your transfusions xx
Hi, yes i experienced this 6 years ago. Having had SLE for 28 years this was another Condition I developed along with Raynauds and calcinosis.
My platelets dropped to 1 so I had a lot of bruising even blood pockets in my mouth. I subsequently found out that was extremely serious!
My treatment besides an infusion in hospital was Romiplostim injections. This brings the platelets up. It took a number of years to balance the correct amount. Weekly blood tests use to determine how much I injected.
The upside it has disappeared and I haven’t had to take the drug in a year and a half.
Don’t be alarmed it will hopefully settle down for you.
Best wishes to you,
Gail x
Yes I have along with SLE, I had it before I was diagnosed with lupus it was one of my first symptoms, platelets we’re down to 21 and they should be between 150-450. So it was a huge concern! I had regular blood tests but no treatment for it at the time, until I met my rheumatologist and he started me on prednisolone, hydroxychloroquine and now azathioprine and my platelets have been on the rise since, I’m not in the 300 range which is good! So it can improve try to be hopeful!
