Multiple thoracic disc herniations misdiagnosed as FND
I have miraculous news that I thought would never come. I'd fully accepted the FND diagnosis at age 27 and coped with terrible pain, unilateral upper and lower limb paresis, use of wheelchair, and 2 years of disability. But this week, after 2 years of having an FND diagnosis , my spine was finally x-rayed

Hip strength podcast
I have been waiting for the "womens running" podcast on hip problems to come out as I had a fair bit of hip pain after my half marathon. Today it landed and I listened. Interesting, but I had already worked out I need to work on my core strength so this month is dedicated to that! I recommend a listen

The Rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust
Today's playlist was another blast from the past with David Bowie's 'The rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust' an amazing album which I had the privilege of seeing them perform live at the then 'Free trade hall' Manchester back in the day 😁 The weather for the run today was around 8 - 9 degrees with a gentle

Posterior Tibial Tendon Is Not A Name Of A Rock Band
Posterior tibial tendon is a little-known, but hugely important anatomical structure along the inside of an ankle. When that guy gets inflamed, you just know. Flat footers, ladies over 40, guys like me who run lots, can all fall victims. Overuse can be something that can trigger it. It's a stubborn healer

Just checking in again ...
Hi Everyone, I do hope you are all doing OK. Things Downunder remain relatively good with regard to COVID, however our vaccination roll-out has been a total balls up with only very few people having had the vaccine so far. Good thing we have no community spread at the moment. I have had four weeks

How nice to be back!
Is it just me or is faffery an integral part of this running malarkey? I admit I haven’t been out for a while because of being glued to the IC for 2 months with a grumbly hip. It’s still not right but the exercises are helping, so those nice physio and doctor ladies have given their permission for me

How valuable this forum is...
I mentioned this forum to my physio recently and he made a note of it as he was unaware of its existence. Since then he mentioned it a patient recently diagnosed with PMR and my physio told me how grateful she was. She thought she was on her own.... I have told a few people about it since my PMR journey

Difficulty walking one week after knee replacement
Hi all, never posted before but in need of some reassurance and you guys always seem such a kind and supportive community. Have had RA for 25 years and taken most of the drugs and many of the biologics over that time and had my left shoulder replaced. Fairly well controlled under abatacept and finally

Can’t believe it’s taken me this long to find you!
Hi everyone - I completed C25k in July last year (another lockdown runner) and in my bid to progress to 10k managed to give myself an injury which resulted in a few weeks off towards the end of last year. I’m cautiously back in the game though and understand how important it is to strengthen the muscles

A Comfortable Sunny Easter 5K 🌞🏃
So it was a beautiful morning , sunny and about 9 or 10 degrees with hardly any wind . Perfect for an Easter Sunday morning run 🌞🏃 Shorts were perfect along with a long sleeve running top . My hip had been feeling fine so I was a little more relaxed about doing this run . I still decided not to push

Parkinson's tremor both sides now
Hello, I've only ever had left side tremor mostly my hand and lower arm. My tremor is now right side too eminating from my core down both arms into my hands. Most uncomfortable feeling ever. My core shakes. Pandemic lockdown has lessened my movement and eliminated my ability to have physical therapy

Action Plan Update-Get a Dexa Scan- Easier said than done.
That was plan last November but my GP refused to refer me, main reason given- on steroids you must have bone protection medication ........ Felt strongly I needed to know the state of my bones, all part of understanding and managing my PMR, (diagnosed September 2020). Tried the local private route-

What a difference a day makes ! 😐
Well, today was a rather chilly 3.5K, I was undecided what to wear but went for shorts and a long sleeve running top . It was certainly chilly on my warm up walk ! Luckily I soon warned up at around 1k No problem from the hip so far today but I didn't want to push it having also been for a bike ride

Just found out I have spinal stenosis. What kind of physical therapy works best for this? Also lumbar spondylosis. I’m new to this problem.
Spinal stenosis. Lumbar spondylosis. I’m new to this and would like to know how people with this manage their pain. Thanks
