Today's playlist was another blast from the past with David Bowie's 'The rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust' an amazing album which I had the privilege of seeing them perform live at the then 'Free trade hall' Manchester back in the day π
The weather for the run today was around 8 - 9 degrees with a gentle breeze, so it was shorts and a long sleeve running top .
This proves to be just right !
This run was my 2nd niggle free 5K which I was so pleased about (the previous was Easter Sunday)
So I think if I'm ok tomorrow then I might cancel my physio appointment, but I'll wait untill tomorrow just to be sure .
If it's ok then I want to start increasing the distance again but I will certainly do this gradually.
I have noticed before that when I start to do more than 5k the niggles often start to appear !
The watch of course is not impressed with 5K and decided to knock a point off my Vo2Max but left my fitness age the same .
That's fine ! I'm more interested in enjoying the niggle free run π
I have also purposely not been watching my pace , rather , just trying to keep it steady and comfortable.
The result today was 5k in exactly 39:00
And that's fine , as I enjoyed it π
Happy running ππ
Edit: Just noticed the splits so added in picture ,

Great run for you today Instructor57, as you know "slow and steady" is the running motto mantra on this forum, that way you should avoid any niggles, I am glad that you enjoyed your run today, well done π ππΎ I like your taste in music, the music πΆ must help you with your running ππΎ.
I couldn't remember if it was earls court or Wembley arena so just messaged my brother and he just told me ! Also saw the pulse concert there which covered dark side of the moon π
I'm not really old enough to have been a proper fan in those days of course Ian π€£ The Wall was my introduction to Pink Floyd and if I remember correctly I was in my first year at university at the time π Dark Side of the Moon now features in my listening of course πtucked in amongst a lifetime of accumulated musical highs and lows π€£πΆπ¬ happy running, and happy listening Ian, and don't forget to take care π
It's more important to enjoy a run that to have a PB. When you enjoy your runs, you want to run and will run more, which is healthy! As for the watch, the runs I enjoy, the watch does not enjoy, haha. I keep being stuck on 39 and 40 Vo2Max. Do I do some fartleks in my run: the watch pushes me to 40. Do I have an enjoyable calm run: the watch drops me to 39. Watch = weird π
So pleased to read of your niggle free 5k Ian, congrats on levering yourself off the IC, take care of yourself. Glad you're "On the Road Again " πββοΈπββοΈπΆπ great taste in music btw, I didn't manage to see Bowieπ¬
Did you do the double? πΆ I've got physio on Monday and hoping to get the go ahead soon to catch up with you! πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Just booked an appointment myself for next week. Not a runner, but a cyclist and badminton player who has worked with West Ham ladies and Southend United FC Academy also at London Marathon.
Glad your still running niggle free, it's a strange one, keeping it shorter, or increase distance, and risk pain again! π€·ββοΈ slowly is the key i guess!Well, not impressed with those splits, what happened with that last km???? π€£π€£π€£
Agree totaly, think being on the IC for a while, makes us just appreciate just being able to run more, would never have dreamed a year ago, i'd be talking about running like this!!! π€£π€£
You saw that live? Top job mate! I wish I had. 23 Heddon Street where the shot was taken is just west of Carnaby Street and less than a minute or two run from 3 Savile Row where the Beatles recorded in the basement and played on that roof. Oh yes, and where the Stones had the last rehearsal before going to Hyde Park for the Brian Jones memorial gig. That's all one of my running routes. π
That's a very steady run instructor57. I'm still not good at starting off at a consistent pace. But 5k is a nice comfortable distance.I went to see David Bowie in a funny little place in Chatham - it must have been the start of his ziggy phase because he'd never have played there afterwards.
β'The rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust' an amazing album which I had the privilege of seeing them perform live at the then 'Free trade hall' Manchester back in the day πβYes a great album I saw them at the Dome in Brighton π₯΄hehe
Just completed wk3 of C25k havenβt run for a decade need to train my lungs to breathe again want to work up to a HM next year and maybe a full marathon too.
Great run Ian, fantastic that it was niggle free. Wow those splits are so consistent. Sorry Mr Garmin is not pleased with you (ignore him, what does he know anyway!!) glad you are keeping young ha ha Happy Running
