I have been waiting for the "womens running" podcast on hip problems to come out as I had a fair bit of hip pain after my half marathon. Today it landed and I listened. Interesting, but I had already worked out I need to work on my core strength so this month is dedicated to that! I recommend a listen if you get hip twinges at all. I was interested to hear the physio is against clam exercises as I found them painful the other day in ywa. So now to find the correct way of doing squats and planks!!

Hip strength podcast
Brilliant pointer. Will listen to this. Thank you! For those who need a link: womensrunning.co.uk/listen-...
Thank you for posting this. I've just listened to the podcast and found it helpful. I've only had the odd twinge in hips so far, which resolved within a day or so. However, five days ago I ran a bit further than normal and have had a painful left hip since then. I know I need to do some special exercises for hips and glutes, but should I wait a while until I have no pain at all? Many thanks for your advice.
No worries....sounds very similar to me....I've only had a problem since I ran a longer distance. It is hard to do core exercises but I'm looking at it as "if you don't do it an injury might stop you running!" 😊 and of course to add minutes to CBDB 's challenge!!
I was really enjoying my running until the last month, when I decided to push myself and do the Magic Plan. Maybe I am not meant to run more than 5k
When I did the magic plan it took me longer than the plan time because if I struggled with a distance I took a step back. Now you know you need these core strengths you'll be strong enough to complete it....if you want to...my hubby stopped at 5k because he dislikes going any further! All a matter of preferences!
Well I will give it a go because I've got a place in a virtual 10k in two months time. I am going to try Jeffing and see how that helps
I had pain when I first attempted the 10k plan. I wondered if maybe that distance wasn't for me. Since then I have gone on to run a few HMs and Jeff one marathon. Glad I didn't give up!!! I've had many injuries along the way, and even now wonder if I'm really designed to run 😀. But I really enjoy it and am pretty much resigned to some fab running interspersed with spells of reflection on the IC. Maybe if I worked harder at my S&F and stretches I would have less time on the IC !!! Whatever you decide is right for you, good luck and enjoy 😊
