Soreness post hysterectomy
Hi there, I had a total hysterectomy due to severe endometriosis 4 weeks ago, the operation was apparently quite difficult and 5 hours long, I also lost a lot of blood (sorry to be graphic) My surgeon managed however to do it keyhole which was great, as I was expecting open surgery. I’m doing ok and

Abnormal LFT results
Hey everyone, I recently paid for a private blood test as I was getting a dull pain below my ribs on my right side. The test came back 148 ALT 140 ALP and 211 GGT. I have to wait until Monday to contact the gp so was wondering if anyone knew what would cause all of these to be raised. All other results

Long story ahead! It’s been a few weeks of ‘things’. In early November hubby complained his head was sore, which can mean all sorts since his stroke and not always being able to explain very well. Two days later he had a cluster of little blisters by his eye - shingles. A course of Aciclovar stopped

Metastatic prostate cancer chronic lower back and pelvic pain which gets much, much worse at night.
Hi everyone! I have metastatic prostate cancer which has got into my bones. I’m currently on Zoladex long term hormone therapy following a 10 month course of chemotherapy which was not that successful so we’re looking at other options. FYI I have noted quite a lot of muscle wastage as a result of long

Newly diagnosed heart condition and fibromyalgia flare - can't take any meds!
Hi all I haven't posted yet because very soon after my fibromyalgia diagnosis a few months ago, my newly prescribed fibromyalgia medication (my first half a dose) sent me into hypertensive crisis. It turns out this is because I have an underlying heart condition, which makes it difficult for my heart

Chest pains 6 months after HA and triple CABG
I’m 6 months post CABG and HA. I’ve not had any twinges or chest pains for a few months until today. Both left and right side of chest. My recovery has been surprisingly unremarkable and I’m fit and well. I’ve taken some paracetamol which has eased the pains but it’s frightened me a bit. I’m not a panicker

Peg Update
Had appointment with my MPN specialist last night. Overall good - staying course with Peg at current dose for now. Was a little disappointed that my platelets had bounced up to 508 (they were 412 3 weeks ago and have been "within range <450" since starting Peg 3 months ago). He was good to remind me

Update on my diagnosis.
Hi all, I’ve been very grateful for your support since June. I thought I’d give an update on my condition. After many scans and tests, my new rheumatologist thinks that I have PMR after all. I’m glad we ruled everything else out - including cancer and vasculitis - as I can crack on and deal with getting

Tapering while suffering with shingles?
Was recently hospitalized for asthma in October and put on mega doses of steroids. When I came down to 12 1/2 I parked. I started to reduce a half a milligram and now at 12. Just came down with the most wicked form of shingles. I went to the hospital in an ambulance! It was so painful I couldn’t even

Tales from the IC: Getting to know my Metatarsals (# 1)
Warning: long but hopefully informative post. Ok, so for the first time since starting to run nearly 2 years ago, I’m taking a cautious step back and am preparing to be on the Injury Couch for a stint. With this I hope to minimise the risk of a more serious injury. About a week ago, I noticed the

Chronic back pain and pain relief?
Hi all Looking for some advice re pain killers for awful lower backache. I had a stent fitted in my LAD a year ago and on the usual meds ie Ticagrelor, Atorvastatin, Aspirin. Everything I read it seems I shouldn’t take ibuprofen only paracetamol which doesn’t touch the pain. Been seeing an osteopath
