I've just had a telephone consult with rhumatology consultant. He's now decided he doesn't think it's rhumatoid arthritis even though my Inflamatory markers are sky high. So I've been told to stop my biologics and to come off my pain meds to take paracetomol. I've come off the injections but I'm in agony now so I've not got back to my GP to ween off my meds. So I don't know what happens now. I know I'm in for a great Christmas NOT

Hugs darling, i am so sorry your suffering like this. xxxxxx

Sounds very odd. I would contact your GP for an urgent appointment and explain you need some help and further investigations.

If he doesn’t think it’s IA, then what does he think it is??

Hopefully he’ll have written to your GP so if you go see GP might get some help.

I’m sorry to hear that. Definitely contact your GP and ask for their help. If the inflammatory markers are very high, that’s not a good sign, so ask why your Rheumatologist thinks it’s not RA, doesn’t make a lot of sense? You’ll have to push on this one, especially if you’re in lots of pain. Ask for a second opinion, or to see another Consultant.

Is this a different rheumatologist to the one you usually see? What were their reasoning. If you have high markers it suggests some form of inflammatory arthritis, although chest infections etc will push them up. I would phone them back and tell them the level of pain your in. I once had a rheumatologist stop my dmards and resulted in severe jaw pain, tongue pain and tender painful scalp. He agreed to recommence it, and things started to subside again.

So what is causing the raised inflammatory markers ? What is his alternative diagnosis?I'd be seeking an appointment with the GP ASAP to follow up.

Be very clear about the pain you are in.

I am same as Mmrr you must have a reason forpain and high inflammation markers its not there for no reason so look at alternatives to consultant and ask for urgent GP chat . If you get nowhere call the NRAS hotline as they should be able to give you some pointers too.

Everyone has said it. You really need to contact someone, I say someone as it can be easier to contact some professionals than others. It's a shame but you need to push.I wish you all the very best.

Let us know how it all goes.

So sorry to hear that. I would definitely ask for a second opinion. You are entitled to it and can ask for a different consultant. I don't know the background, but don't let them fob you off. I know it's hard when you are in a lot of pain. Sending you bags of hugs and strength.

Not what you're looking for?
