News from the NIH, 40 years late but what are you going to do? They confirm our diet advice but I wish they were more emphatic about it.
Saturated fat that’s in the bloodstream raises the levels of
LDL
cholesterol—the “bad” cholesterol. This in turn raises the risk of heart disease. But when people started following low-fat diets, they didn’t only cut saturated fats.

Low-carbohydrate diet plus walking to reduce metabolic disturbances caused by ADT.
New study from Steve Freedland below. "The objective of this study was to test a low-carbohydrate diet (LCD) plus walking to reduce androgen deprivation therapy (ADT)-induced metabolic disturbances." Out of desperation, I started a new therapy, low dose naltrexone. This is used in high amounts to reduce opioid cravings. Apparently it can be used in much smaller doses to treat chronic pain. It binds to the opioid receptors, and creates natural endorphins. I was skeptical, but OMG it works!!!! Last

The best present you could get for year end
So my new year's resolution will be to continue the Couch25K type and quantity of exercise, perhaps participating in the bridge to 10K or the local park runs, and to try to address the root cause of high blood pressure and
LDL
cholestrol.

Fatty Liver (Hepatic Steatosis)
Also, my Trig = 93,
LDL
= 180 and HDL = 33 So fast forward now, on december 5th my Alt=35 and ASt=30 and I weigh 175LB as of today. I’ve gone to low carb diet and have lost the pregnant belly fat which I used to have it with fatty liver.

low dose naltrexone for CREST with Raynaud's and IBD?
Hello. Does anyone else have IBD and CREST? Technically, my GI doctor said it looks like I have "mild Crohn's activity", although there's a slight chance the small intestine inflammation could be due to SIBO. Not sure what the mild gastritis is due to, if not IBD (I don't do/use any of the gastritis

Why Cycling in and out of Nutritional Ketosis Is Recommended. Burn fat for fuel.
Vegetable oils promote oxidized cholesterol, which becomes destructive when entering your
LDL
particles. Also, when consumed in large amounts, omega-6 polyunsaturated fats — and especially industrially processed ones — cannot be effectively burned for fuel.

Test results what do they mean? Have gone online so have previous results when I was complaining of fatigue, confusion over last 5 years...
Felt fairly rubbish over the last 2 months- feeling sleepy if sat back unless using the PC, hence watch TV on a night and o stuff on PC otherwise I would drop off, or reach for something to eat to keep me awake! Hence the expanded waistline.... Appreciate your comments - is it the thyroid, B12, or

Obtained my results as advised by the community, after being advised by GP to go for repeat test in 4-6 weeks as borderline thyroid issue...
Hi Just done the repeat blood test for thyroid and as I asked why my B12 was so high they are retesting B12 in case of a mistake in the lab. (I was expecting a low B12, as my sister has B12 injections, she is hypothyroid, Hashimotos and has MS. Mum and auntie also the hypothyroid condition. I don't

To statin, or not to statin...creatine kinase and lp/a levels normal
My total cholesterol is 7.7,
LDL
is 5.4 and HDL 2.3. I have been told by the lipid clinic I must go on 20mg of atorvastatin. Thing is I don't really understand why, and the consultant seemed too busy to answer me.

Heart CT Scan - eye opening experience
The consultant wasn’t overly concerned but advised me to lower my
LDL
cholesterol from an already within range 3.2 mmol/L to 2.6 by eating less red meat, more oily fish and more vegetables. I don’t think any other test can make such an early diagnosis so I’m well pleased.

High LDH
Hi all, I’m trying not to freak out on this Christmas Eve. I have Myelofibrisis for the last 5 years. I’m on wait and watch with aspirin. I just had labs done which show my LDH is 2450. I see on previous labs 2 years ago it was 780. From what I’m reading that sounds like leukemia. Does anyone have it
