One possible reason for the efficiency of the Trig to HDL ratio is that it may be a good indicator of small LDL particle size (see link).

Poor machine was unable to calculate LDL but my triglycerides were o.8. I was told that HDL is bad when it is too high...so here wo go... what on earth am I supposed to do with this? I will go to my GP and get a proper blood test, but all advice online is how tomlower LDL and incraese HDL.

I had my cholesterol checked and my LDL went from 70 to 125. Has any body had that happen and do you think it was from the gabapentin? If so did you switch to another medication and what was it?

I know there are plenty of knowledgeable people reading these posts so can you decipher this please Chol 3.5 mmol/L, LDL , HDL 1.78 mmol/L,Chol:HDL ratio , Tri 0.51 mmol/L. I don’t understand this. I’m guessing my cholesterol reading is 3.5, but what are HDL and LDL readings individually?

Hi to you all, my total cholesterol is 6.2, and because my HDL is 2.5 times better than my LDL my doctors have no concerns and statins have never been mentioned. However, if they were l would change my lifestyle before l would take statins.

Hello all, good and bad news :) Good - After a few years of slightly high HDL and LDL readings (as shown), my latest HDL and LDL results are normal. I'm 54, very active, not overweight, non-smoker, non-drinker. No medication.

HDL - 1.5 LDL - 6.8 TRIGLYCERIDES - 1.7 Total 8.3 risk factor 26% They want to start me on Statins asap. I am keen to avoid drugs and believe that some of the increased numbers above could actually be good cholesterol aka the eggs?

At that time my LDL was 1.4, HDL 1.4, Tg 1.1, ratio 1.8 and total cholesterol 3.3. Bloods were done exactly 4 weeks after stopping the statins and my LDL has shot up to 3.7! I had a shock. HDL is now 1.3, Tg1.3, ratio 2.3 and total cholesterol is 5.6.

Triglyceride is also 3 mmol/L LDL and HDL is not within limit. Hba1c 62 !!! At 77 i want to eat and drink what I want? "Cholesterol levels in the UK are measured in millimoles per litre (mmol/L).

Here's the thing, I lived for 30 years or more with my elevated total and LDL cholesterol levels and yet my CAC score remained zero. So, I feel like taking a statin that messes quite a bit with the lp(a) level may actually be more risky for me than living with an LDL in the 130s.

Please fast patients if triglyceride measurement and/or LDL Cholesterol estimations are required.
