Sorry it’s so long hope some of you can help I did pick up felt a lot better but not feeling great again now

Another few symptoms recently are a itchy rash on arms side and legs, head.

Waking up in the night with sweating legs

Closing my eyes almost dreaming straightaway then waking up

Feeling of heart beating fast (maybe another sign of anxiety) while just sat doing nothing

My head runs away with itself I’ve thought is it to do with ferritin dropping? Should I test magnesium? H pylori / Candida?

Thanks guys

Have you lost weight at all? It might be worth having your cortisol levels checked. However both your Vit D & B12 are on the lower end of normal.

I notice your iron levels have dropped quite noticeably between the two sets of tests :

First tests :

Iron 22.41 umol 10.60-28.30 --- 67% of the way through the range

Tibc 52.61 umol 41.00-77.00 --- 32% of the way through the range

Transferrin sat 42.6 % 20.00-55.00 --- 65% of the way through the range

Ferritin 229 ugl 30.00-400.00 --- 54% of the way through the range

Second tests :

Iron 15.67 umol 5.80-34.50 --- 34% of the way through the range

Tibc 54.37 umol 45.00-72.00 --- 35% of the way through the range

Transferrin sat 28.82 % 20.00-50.00 --- 29% of the way through the range

Ferritin 137 ugl 30.00-400.00 --- 29% of the way through the range

Optimal results for iron :

See this link : rt3-adrenals.org/Iron_test_...

Your first set of iron results from June look perfect. However things seem to have deteriorated quite noticeably by October.

Serum iron (iron being carried around by your blood stream) has halved.

TIBC = Total Iron Binding Capacity has increased slightly showing that your blood could soak up more iron than before.

Transferrin Saturation has dropped suggesting your blood is much less saturated with iron.

Ferritin is a measure of your iron stores and has almost halved.

Have you changed your diet since June? Stopped taking supplements containing iron? Cut down on your meat consumption?

Some people can raise their iron quite easily by eating liver once a week. Others absorb it poorly and have to take supplements as well. But if you do decide to actively raise your iron you should test every couple of months. This is a good finger-prick test :

medichecks.com/iron-tests/i...

Excessive iron is poisonous and must be avoided. If you could get your iron-related levels close to the first set of results again that would be ideal.

Note that low iron levels can cause palpitations and fast heart rate, although yours are below optimal rather than "low" - all your iron-related results are well in range.

.

.

Active b12 73.500 pmol 37.50-188.00

Folate serum 11.35ugl 3.89-26.80

25oh vitamin d 75.5nmol 50.00-200.00

Your Vitamin B12, although it has improved, is still too low. Keep supplementing. Vitamin B12 isn't poisonous so getting it higher is not dangerous.

Folate ideally should be mid-range or upper half of range, so roughly 15 - 27.

Vitamin D is still below optimal and needs to be roughly 100 - 150. Some people go up to 125 - 150, but it is up to you.

Hi many thanks for taking your time looking at my results

I would say I was probably eating less in June and not as healthy as what I’m eating now

The only supplements I am taking are vit d and b12 and I have actually started to introduce liver a couple of times a month into meals as well

I will look at the suggested links also

One question is it worth trying to get another blood test for iron and if so how many months should you leave it between tests? I don’t mind paying for this private as trying to get a drs appointment is horrendous and when you do get in there they want to palm you off with ANTI DEPRESSANTS 😔 like they don’t believe symptoms

I don't have much to add to the replies you've already had. Humanbean has covered your iron results (and she is much better at iron than me!), she has also covered your B12/folate results.

For Vit D I would supplement to reach 125nmol/L. Your level of 75.5nmol/L equals 30.2ng/ml and for a level betweem 30 and 40ng/ml the Vit D Council recommends a dose of 2,500iu daily. If you were between 20 and 30ng/ml they recommend 3,700iu daily. So if that was my result I would increase my dose to at least 2,500iu daily for 3 months then retest.

[If you've had thyroid antibodies tested and they were raised, confirming Hashimoto's, then an oral spray gives better absorption.]

If you don't already know, there are important cofactors needed when taking D3 as recommended by the Vit D Council -

vitamindcouncil.org/about-v...

D3 aids absorption of calcium from food and K2-MK7 directs the calcium to bones and teeth where it is needed and away from arteries and soft tissues where it can be deposited and cause problems such as hardening of the arteries, kidney stones, etc.

D3 and K2 are fat soluble so should be taken with the fattiest meal of the day, D3 four hours away from thyroid meds.

Magnesium helps D3 to work. We need Magnesium so that the body utilises D3, it's required to convert Vit D into it's active form. So it's important we ensure we take magnesium when supplementing with D3.

Magnesium comes in different forms, check to see which would suit you best and as it's calming it's best taken in the evening, four hours away from thyroid meds

naturalnews.com/046401_magn...

Check out the other cofactors too (some of which can be obtained from food).

Also, I don't quite agree that your cortisol result is entirely fine. Your waking sample is too low, it should be right at the top of it's range, and yours is only 55% through, then it should fall throughout the day until bedtime when it should be at the bottom of the range. Your samples 2 and 3 aren't too far out, sample 4 - who knows. These are the optimal levels for cortisol:

Morning at the top of the range - yours is 55%

Noon approximately 75% of the range

- yours is 67%

Evening close to 50% of the range

- yours is 57%

Nighttime at the bottom of the range - you don't know yours, and that is a flaw with this test, it doesn't give an actual result (presumably Medichecks?)

Nor do you have a DHEA result, and that is also needed when testing cortisol.

You guys have been so helpful it’s great getting private blood tests but no use if you don’t understand them once again thank you for your help and guidance I’ve had much more sense from on here than a bloody dr 👍🏻
