Referral to renal unit?
I’ve recently been in hospital for angioplasty which unfortunately couldn’t go ahead due to the twisting and an aneurysm in the RCA. I had a kidney removed 3 years ago due to cancer and the remaining kidney never picked up from about 45 gfr. It has gone steadily down to 37gfr. I had blood tests carried

Low potassium.
Hi, can someone please explain why you become low in potassium when supplementing with b12. I am struggling with dehydration. I am drinking lots of water 3 liters a day. Does any know how much potassium tabs to take. Will it raise blood pressure. Thank you.

Let's talk about BP and CKD. (Take your ACE at night if using it for BP too?)
Poster Gerald1967 linked to this NCBI listed article (2014) which talks about BP and natural (vs. pharma) BP control approaches. Interesting read generally, but this popped out. The journo writes it as if it's a known fact. It likely is a known fact, but just not a fact known by your typical patient

Dogs PC and Health
That adorable picture of Sparky sparked me into writing some of my ideas about dogs and I hope to hear from others. My best friend for almost 15 years was Sophie a grey Standard Poodle. She was not only smart but acutely aware and fully bonded to me. She actually picked me and who was I to refuse. I

Anyone else had a smooth tongue and sore feeling inside of mouth?
Am worried. Whilst suffering with a kidney infection I seemed to have been bitten by some insect or other. I was given steroid cream and anti- allergy pills. A couple of days after starting these I noticed my tongue felt a bit sore and smooth. After. few days no improvement but certain food began to

Normocytic anaemia with RD
Once again, I am asking to benefit from your experience and knowledge. Had my monthly blood test. Am on MTX and Cimzia. The results showed that I have normocytic anaemia. GP rang me and took a history and said that although it could be related to my RD, it also could be related to bowel cancer, and

Kidney Ultrasound
Hello all, God bless everyone on this sight. I just have a quick question. In late October 2019 during a routine CT I was told I had bilateral parapelvic kidney cysts. Witch could be pkd. Probably pkd2 due to the fact I was 54 years old . I’ve had several follow up scans here’s the most recent Ultrasound

Tacrolimus/Advagraf and Ginger
Has anyone ever had a doctor tell them they cannot have ginger while on Tacrolimus? When you search online for contraindications to Tacrolimus, it lists pomegranates, grapefruit, pomelo, star fruit and ginger. However, the medical information sheet I get from the pharmacy only says to avoid grapefruit

Ivermectin for Cancer
I picked up a little Ivermectin for its possible anti-Covid-19 properties. Maybe I should take it for PC? The mechanism discussed is above my pay grade, and it certainly seems unlikely that it is effective against all or most cancers. Highlights Ivermectin effectively suppresses the proliferation and

In a panic! Has anyone heard of these?
After a few years of heavy bleeds, now under control with the pill, this past few weeks I had symptoms of stabbing pain (nearly fainted twice) in my pelvis and a very achy back I went for a private scan. NHS so busy atm and I was torturing myself. So the sonographer report states 2 possible causes. Degenerating

A break during 10k
Does anyone else ever stop for a couple of minutes for a break during their 10k run? I tend to run on the treadmill and have recently started doing 10k runs after eventually completing c25k. About half the time I can do it without stopping whilst the rest of the time I find myself needing to stop for

Introduction post
Hello I am 72 years old and I just recently started dialysis for my kidney disease. I am also looking into getting a donor kidney and prior to receiving that I have to lose at least 40 pounds and become much healthier. I am hoping this program will help me in both of those endeavors.

Down to 10mg Pred instantly!
Hello again, Just seen a rheumatologist for the first time, having been diagnosed with PMR in early January this year. Went from 15mg pred to 12.5mg by March. She has put me down instantly to 10mg, which she says I should be on after six months, then reduce by 1mg every six weeks. This I think, is

KT/V Test
I recently took Another KT/V and it came back below passing… with that being said I’m set to retake it again next week and if I don’t get a passing number on this next one then they will put me back on Hemodialysis which I feel will be a death sentence because I went to PD because the staff that worked
