Ivermectin for Cancer

cigafred profile image
47 Replies

I picked up a little Ivermectin for its possible anti-Covid-19 properties. Maybe I should take it for PC? The mechanism discussed is above my pay grade, and it certainly seems unlikely that it is effective against all or most cancers.

Highlights

Ivermectin effectively suppresses the proliferation and metastasis of cancer cells and promotes cancer cell death at doses that are nontoxic to normal cells.

Ivermectin shows excellent efficacy against conventional chemotherapy drug-resistant cancer cells and reverses multidrug resistance.

Ivermectin combined with other chemotherapy drugs or targeted drugs has powerful effects on cancer.

The structure of crosstalk centered on PAK1 kinase reveals the mechanism by which ivermectin regulates multiple signaling pathways.

Ivermectin has been used to treat parasitic diseases in humans for many years and can quickly enter clinical trials for the treatment of tumors.

I have only found a little scattered data concerning Ivermectin and prostate cancer. Personally, I do not think that the risk/reward ratio is good. But it'll be one of many things that I will be watching to see if clinical trials show efficacy.

Yes, that is one reason I got a little from my Indian supplier.

Interesting reading, but I bet it is not available for human use.

I meant as an anti cancer drug. Worming tablets are available.

spencoid2 profile image

It is available very cheaply for horses. I never had the nerve to give this form to my dogs although people love their horses and horse meds are probably just as carefully formulated as drugs for humans. For dogs the dose is in micrograms and is given monthly as prophylaxis. So this stuff is serious.

dhccpa profile image
dhccpa in reply tospencoid2

I've heard that it can be fatal for some breeds of dogs. Check on that before giving to dogs.

dhccpa profile image
dhccpa in reply toARIES29

I use the one that is very clearly labelled "intended for horses only."

spencoid2 profile image
spencoid2 in reply todhccpa

Do you use it for 🐕, I never had the nerve. I am pretty sure the ivermectin is eventually distributed. I don't doubt my ability to dose it. I have a semi analytical balance that is accurate to five decimal places. Still concerned about evenness of mix. I guess I could remix it. I've for dogs is absurdly expensive compared to the horse paste. My dog are so important to me I an not sure I would take a chance. For me, who cares

dhccpa profile image
dhccpa in reply tospencoid2

No, I use it myself.

sflowerssweeney profile image
sflowerssweeney in reply tospencoid2

I've used it (human form) and have had about 40 people that I know use it for the C19 and all got well. 100% of them. None in the hospital except one that didn't start it for a week and then the hospital confiscated. He got better even though he had several severe comorbidities.

spencoid2 profile image
spencoid2 in reply tosflowerssweeney

I doubt there is any difference in human and for cattle formulas. Most people who use it for their dogs use the injectable for cattle. I just got up the nerve to give it to my precious doggies. They are in the 50 to 100 lb range so get 272 mcg. I gave then 30 mg of 1% solution doing a minor correction for the density of the carrier which is largely propylene gylcol. Was about 3 little drops from a 21 gauge needle. .03 grams and my scale goes to .000001 gm so I was able to get it really close. From what I read, as you suggested as well, it is used safely in much larger doses for things like demodectic mange. Only concern is that I underdosed. I will get a test just to be sure.

I live in a remote rural location so it is good to have on hand for covid if needed.

Ivermectin has been widely used in humans for parasitic infections and other uses. It has a broad safety profile - meaning, you can dose pretty liberally before you get into a dangerous dose, but bear in mind that the correct dose for dogs is in micrograms, not milligrams. Which means the dose for humans will be small - 12-20 mg, something like that.

of course there is a ivermectin for humans. Get off CNN and poke your head around.

Interesting reading & it shows it is good for covid but what about prostate cancer?

I started on it back in November. Hit new PSA low in April but I'm on Lupron as well since 11/2018. We'll know in a few years. Next scans in September.

AireMom in reply todhccpa

What dose are you using? I have the 1% solution, and instructions for diluting for use in dogs but don't know what dose would be used for prostate.

dhccpa profile image
dhccpa in reply toAireMom

I have the gel in a syringe that is used for horses. I take one notch on the tube (250 horse lb. dose) about three days per week.

AireMom profile image
AireMom in reply todhccpa

Can you tell me how much that is in terms of mL and the concentration of the gel? Meanwhile I'll look it up - I have the injectable form, which typically you dilute with some food-grade glycerin.

I have been taking the liquid form of Ivermectin for over 1 year now. 1.8 ml (18mg) per week. I had a RP IN 2016, Pca recurrence in 2022. Had ADT (Zoladex) for 9 months, then stopped for a vacation due to se. So far, after 6 months off Zoladex, my QOL is better and PSA has been .02 for the last 3 tests (every 3 months). Ivermectin might be contributing to my low PSA results. Who knows? But I’m giving it a go!

Yes, exactly. You can easily measure it with the notches on the syringe.

Hi, do you take the iver with food or on an empty stomach? And have you taken it long enough to get an idea if it's helping you or not? Thank you in advance!

dhccpa profile image
dhccpa in reply tostuffmartusa

I take it after a meal about three days each week. I also take fenbendazole and other things. I am stable, PSA hit new low in April, but haven't drawn any conclusions yet. I will have new scans and blood tests in September.

stuffmartusa profile image
stuffmartusa in reply todhccpa

Thank you! One more question, how long have you been taking it?

dhccpa profile image
dhccpa in reply tostuffmartusa

I started Ivermectin last November, fenbendazole in Feb. 2020.

I’m taking 1.8 ml (18 mg) for my 180 lb body weight. It’s in liquid form.

Personally, I do not go for anything that has only been investigated in Petri dishes on PC cell lines and have not even had any human trials, even small pilot studies, in actual PC patients. These are mostly just graduate student projects I suspect, to earn their PhD. While interesting in developing therapeutic theories, mostly they go nowhere so I don’t waste my time. There are more promising choices for supporting and supplementing SOC available. Not anything specific about ivermectin, just a skepticism born of experience. Why most such go nowhere. Unfortunately.

dhccpa profile image
dhccpa in reply toMateoBeach

You may very well turn out to be correct. We'll know one day soon. As usual with me, I'm in a clinical trial of one.

Ivermectin has been used for decades with almost zero side effects and no known interactions with other medicines. It is so safe and effective it was awarded the Nobel Prize in 2015 and holds a position on the WHO’s List of the World’s Most Essential Medicines.

MateoBeach profile image
MateoBeach in reply tosummer-27

ALL of that is for its amazing effectiveness against filarías infections, specifically Onchorecriasis, River Blindness. Nobel Peize worthy.

Nfler profile image

Its also been pretty effective reducing my psa from 6 to .9 while off adt and from.75 to.11 while on adt, proof is in the pudding thus far… And this is on 6 doses of ivm@48 mg every other day for 12 days…

My doc prescribed it for me and my wife as a prophylaxis for covid. We get it filled at Walgreens pharmacy. Take 18mg once a week. The fact that it may act against cancer is just a bonus. There is really no risk as side effects are rare and mild if they do occur. Been out there for decades. Why people use animal paste is beyond me.

ARIES29 profile image
ARIES29 in reply toTeufelshunde

No wallgreens here unfortunately, so will research it for horses only.

MylowPSA profile image
MylowPSA in reply toTeufelshunde

A friend has used it for her sheep for years. The dosage is different for humans.

It is determined by body weight.

Teufelshunde profile image
Teufelshunde in reply toMylowPSA

Human dose is also by weight. .2mg/kg for prophylaxis and about double that for early treatment. Comes in 3mg tablets so I take 6.

I came across this and based on the publication date it seems like it would have been written prior to this drug coming to national attention for other reasons.

So it clearly is being explored as a treatment for cancer.

Lovinlife53 profile image

I take 3ml of Ivermectin liquid each week. Have been taking it for over 1 year now. Dosage is based on body weight. .1ml for every 10lbs.

You weight 30lbs????

Nfler profile image
Nfler in reply toMaxone73

😂 haha that’s what I was thinking, or maybe he’s just going real conservative on the dose

Lovinlife53 profile image
Lovinlife53 in reply toMaxone73

I am actually taking a little more than I should for my body weight. I weigh 180lbs, so my normal dosage would be 1.8ml. I am taking 3ml per week, which would be enough for a 300lb person

Maxone73 profile image
Maxone73 in reply toLovinlife53

Got it 1ml per 100 lbs

Lovinlife53 profile image
Lovinlife53 in reply toMaxone73

Yes, that's correct. 1.8ml for 180lb weight. But you can take more, as there is a dosage daily that aims at treatment, not just prevention. So far, I've just been taking the weekly dosage as a test. My 3rd 3 monthly PSA test is coming up mid Sept. I've been on a vacation from ADT since Dec, and my PSA has been .02 each time. If this continues, it MIGHT be some of the effects of Ivermectin. We shall see.

So this thread has been revived after 3 years? I decided against using it for PCa (see Mateo Beach above), but keep it around in case of covid. After 3 years it probably has expired, but I an getting old and lethargic.
