Update
So following my overdose I tried to leave
intensive
care
, got about 3 miles away from the hospital when the police found me and dragged me back under a section 136. I spent 15 hours in the 136 suite before being placed on a section 2 and taken back to the psych ward.

Bacterial Meningitis after emergency c section
I lost two and a half days with my newborn as I was in
Intensive
care
and my son was put in special care and also treated with antibiotics. We spent 10 days in hospital and had a further 2 weeks of IV antibiotics administered at home. I am extremely lucky to not have any after effects.

Second Recurrence now at PSA .5
RP in 2011, first recurrence and subsequent IMRT in mid 2015. Second recurrence (PSA .2) August 2017. I have not had any medication (hormones, chemo) in the 7 years I have been fighting. Learned this morning my PSA is now at .5 so I assume will be having the PSMA pet scan done at Hopkins Baltimore to

Need help with Lupron question
As some of you know I’m Gleason 3+4. Will have TURP in August and then 28 sessions of proton therapy starting in November. My close friend was diagnosed 4+3 shortly after. He’s being told by 3 oncologists (IMRT/proton) that it would be best to do 4 months of Lupron plus the radiation. Other testing

Breathless
But today she seems really breathless she is obviously still in
intensive
care
but some nurses seem concerned and some don't ... She was sitting on a chair today for 4 hours so maybe took it out of her a little .... Just wondering if this is normal ... She literally looked so well yesterday ...

Palliative care - questions to ask
We have an appointment today with a palliative care nurse who works in one of the hospices in our area. My mum was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer last Monday, for which there is no treatment available. I know the nurse will review pain meds and ask about mum’s wishes. What else should we ask? This

Mum's stage 4 diagnosis
Last Monday my mum was diagnosed with a non-specific stage 4 lung cancer. I say non-specific as the consultant does not want to put her through a bronchoscopy as he has suggested that whilst it will reveal the type of cancer she has, it won't ultimately change anything in terms of treatment. We've been

Pet Worries
I thought I would post an update. I had an indwelling Pleural catheter about 4 weeks ago and the district nurses having been coming out most days to drain me. It has been hard getting the balance right between frequency of visits and volume. At first it seemed that as fast as the nurses were draining

Intermittent ADT criteria and rules
I know from past posts here, and reading many articles and studies, that the criteria for starting and stopping intermittent ADT (IADT), or doing it at all, can be controversial. Those posts from a search I did here, have been read. Sorry for rehashing the topic, but now the possibility of it is more

My IMRT decision.
Last summer during a regular annual physical which found an asymmetry hardness on my prostrate and trip to urologist with subsequent biopsy that showed a Gleeson 4+4=8 in one sample and a 4.4 PSA. After consults with several different types of oncologists, I decided on IMRT (radiation); 45 treatments

It's not over yet ...
I got out of it without being able to move (

muscle weakness). Anyway, it took me another week in ICU and two more weeks in hospital until I was discharged. Everything has been going really well and I regained mobility, although my legs aren't still what they used to be.

Do You Know the Ins and Outs about Palliative Care?
A friend of mine wrote a blog post about Palliative Care that really tells you what it is (and isn't). One sentence in the blog clears up one misconception lots of people seem to have: Hospice is always palliative care, but palliative care is not always hospice. That's a very huge distinction!! https
