Care Community
5,871 members
The Care Community is a place for all carers to discuss health and caring for loved ones, particularly in later life. Talking about the challenges you face as a carer for an older person can be hard, but sometimes, there’s nothing more helpful than talking with others who are in the same boat. Our community is one where we can all have the conversations we need to, sharing our experiences and supporting each other.

ICUsteps
7,523 members
ICUsteps (the Intensive Care Unit Support Teams for Ex-Patients) was founded in 2005 by ex-patients, their relatives and ICU staff to support patients and their families through the long road to recovery from critical illness. Our aims are to: - support patients and relatives affected by critical illness, - promote recognition of the physical and psychological consequences of critical illness through education of the medical - profession and the general public, and - encourage research into treatment and the prevention of these issues. We do this through our network of local support groups, through provision of critical illness patient and relative information in over a dozen languages, and through providing a patient voice to national healthcare bodies such as NHS England, NICE and the Critical Care Leadership Forum. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The guideline highlights: • Be kind, respectful, and understanding of one another - this is a scary time but we are all in this together • Post from your own experience - “For me, this worked…” rather than “You should do this…” • This is a space for emotional support - keep the medical advice to the professionals • Only share third-party information when absolutely necessary and from credible sources • No political content - it only causes arguments • This community should not be used for commercial or personal promotion - no selling, no fundraising, no spam • If you see something you’re concerned about, use the reporting functionality to flag it to the moderation team

HealthWeb Navigator
225 members
The goal of this community is to help patients to find the best resources about the health care. At HealthWeb Navigator, we evaluate healthcare websites, allowing users to see which resources provide consumer-friendly and up-to-date information. Health care has become complicated. Many patients are spending more of their own money to cover medical costs and less time receiving the care they need. Consumers are turning to the internet for diagnosis and learning more about health conditions. Major challenges include understanding medical costs and conditions, finding the right doctor or hospital, and accessing the latest research.

DC Action
28 members
We are a peer support group for people and families affected by telomeropathies and dyskeratosis congenita (DC). DC Action aims to improve diagnosis, treatment and health services. DC is rare but other telomeropathies may be more common and can be confused with other conditions. Specialist care is essential but can be difficult to find. Please share your experiences. We are a small group so it's really important that our voices are heard to help improve access to specialist care and treatment. Post about diagnosis, treatment, access to health services, share problems, ask questions and offer solutions. Polls and questionnaires will help us to lobby for better NHS services.
