No Flu Jab!
I have just been refused a free flu jab by the receptionist at my GP Surgery. I have had them for the last four years. I have RD and take Methotrexate and Humeria, I also live with my son who has Pan Ulcerative Colitis and takes Azathioprine and Octasa AMINOSALICYLATES (5-ASAS). Why? Are we not

W7R2
Just back from second W7 run and boy was it tough. I struggled over the first half to such an extent I don’t believe it’s possible to run any slower! Since the last run (on Tuesday) my legs have just been so stiff it’s been difficult moving although I did a 5 mile walk yesterday to try and get the muscles

Anita02 has passed away

Here we go again.....
Having been at 5mg for months, feeling very well, I have had a period of stress. My very dear friend passed away a month ago. She had a brain tumour , diagnosed 18 months ago. I had been visiting her weekly , the last 6 months were not very nice to watch, she was transferred to a care home and slowly

White tongue
Hi I am on Humira and Metoject. 2 weeks ago I'd the flu jab ever since my IBS is bad and my mouth is covered inside my lips with cold sores, so I looked inside and to my horror my tongue was heavily coated in yellowy white and mouth ulcers. Rheumy nurse said buy nysatin but does it work and what will

Flu Vaccination
I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and have just had a flu jab the area has swollen up and is now 4 inches in diameter and is hot and hard in the centre. Should I report it to the rheumatologist or am I making too much fuss.

Tapering down....from 35 mg to 12.5 since August 31st
My rheumy has put me on a plan to taper down after being diagnosed with PMR in mid July and a set of x-rays have discovered lower spine weakness and degeneration so not pmr pain as I had thought . Blood work indicates that the inflammation continues to diminish and I started physio 6 weeks ago so

Just a theory I wanted to share
Somebody said something on the flu jab discussion about fear and placebo and that reminded me of my theory about health and life and everything. I wanted to share to see if anyone else agreed or related. I think that what we expect to happen to us inlife happens and that if we react fearfully to something

Emphysema and Hypochondria
Hello Everybody, I (38/m) was recently diagnosed with emphysema. I have not taken any PFTs, so I do not know the extent. The original (ER) doctor told me to quit smoking to stay off oxygen when I'm 80, and a general practitioner said I am 'more moderate than mild'. I was diagnosed with an x-ray and

Reasons for a difficult run
As I think I may already have mentioned (!!!), I did my first ever 10k run yesterday, and it was hard! I know there are many reasons some runs are like that, so wasn't too worried. When I checked my stats afterwards I noticed that my heart rate was at least 15 bpm higher than it usually is, for the whole

Flu Jab advice to everyone
Hi everyone, I would like to encourage everyone to have the flu jab if you can, especially if you are on biologics or immunosuppressant medications. There have been reports of worse side effects this year and its thought to be because of the vaccine containing four strains. The most commonly reported

Flu vaccine?
I decided to actually get a flu vaccine this year, instead of just thinking about it for months like I usually do. Both my PCP and neuro recommended it since getting flu could cause a relapse. Following the immunization, I had about 5 days of increased spasms in my legs, making walking a bit difficult

SHINGLES
I have posted this to advise that CABg patients can ask for a shingles injection, like the flu jab. At this time only available to those over 70, however Dr's will take cabg as high risk. Flu jab
Hi all! I’ve been offered a flu jab but wasn’t sure if I should go ahead with it as think I remember a post on here saying we shouldn’t have vaccines. What do people know about this?

GFR
I was diagnosed in 2012 with GFR of 16. I first became deathly ill in 2011 but wasn't diagnosed till 2012. I became deathly ill twice, both before the diagnosis. I also would become very ill the 3 times I took flu vaccines before 2011. I had CKD, frequent urinary infections, kidneys full of stones. I

Shingles vaccine update
Hi folks, and thanks for your responses. I called my haematology department today and they advised that it is ok for my wife to have the zostavax shingles vaccine containing the live virus and that it does not pose a risk to me. I'm not sure if the NHS currently allows shingrix (non-live virus) in
