vaccines and PMR flare
I was down to about 6 mg of Pred a day. Then I got the flu vaccine. Now I'm in a lot of pain in the mornings and it takes at least 9 mg of Pred to get rid of the pain. Afraid to get the Covid shot as I usually have even more of a reaction to that one. Anyone else deal with this? And if so, how long

Developments since my second basal cortisol test showed adrenal function is not quite up to speed.
I had a call from the specialist nurse yesterday telling me that I would be receiving details of a clinic appointment. An hour later the appointment showed up in the NHS app for 7th October. It appears that this was prompted by my blood test last Thursday showing CRP at 17- up from 5 in July. Seems to

Covid….feeling scared 🥲
Hi everyone. I hope you are ok. I have just tested positive for Covid. I have COPD, asthma and Crohn’s and am really really anxious. I was due to have my covid and flu vaccines next week. I was hospitalised earlier this year with chest infection and am so scared that it’s going to happen again. Does

Hi from Purplecrow
hi everyone, I’m back after a bout of afib and the followup drama that accompanies it. My PMR diagnosis was in 2013, and as of today…I’m Still on prednisone! Only 5 mg, so no one really worries about it. I just tried another reduction of .5 mg, and within a week,…drumroll…symptoms returned!

Pred and vaccines (sorry, yes another damn post on this!)
Some may remember I was on Pred for 4 years with PMR on the slow reduction shift. Well I’m back on prednisolone this time due to lung inflammation due to Covid and Pneumonia. Starting dose was 40mg/day for 7 days, today I’m down to 30mg for the following 7 days, then reducing week on week by 5mg to come

Tapering and vaccinations
After reading some posts, am I right in thinking it would be best not to begin my slow taper until after I have had my flu jab on 10/10 and Covid jab on 16/10? I have only been on Prednisolone for 7 weeks anyway.

Advice re flu jabs
What is the thinking about steroid doses when you are booked for a flu jab. I have mine on Monday!! I am currently tapering from 20mg to 10mg with the taper down by 2.5mg every 3 weeks. I drop to 17.5mg this Friday.

Flu vaccination
I am nervous! I had an ablation (RF) at the end of March this year and so far as I am aware no episodes since (last January 2024). My heart rate is slightly faster, around 72bpm, previously around 62bpm. I have booked my flu vaccination for the 9th of October but terrified of waking the beast up. Has

Covid & Flu jab together?
I tend to react really badly to all vaccinations, usually needing 1-2 days in bed. Apart from the general jab side effects, they also cause my asthma to flare up. I've just had my letter asking me to go for my covid and flu jabs and when I rang to make an appointment, I was told that I

'Flu and covid jabs at same time !
I'm 83 and have had RA since I was 48 . I normally book my 'flu and covid jabs separately. This year I've "bitten the bullet" and booked them at the same time ( different arms ) at the end of October. I've always felt quite "meh" after the covid jab and last year I felt similarly after the 'flu jab

Vaccinations and prednisone
I know that there is concern about whether or not to take the COVID-19 vaccine. My experience has been good. Yesterday, having an appointment to get both COVID and flu shots, I took 10mg of prednisone after breakfast (I have tapered to 4.5). I got the shots, had no pain or sensitivity afterwards, and

Tinnitus - where did it originate from?
Hi there! Have seen various posts lately on where members thought theirs had originated from . Mine is fairly straight forward. Last Autumn I had the Flu jab and the latest Covid jab at the same time. Tinnitus started within two days. The ENT Consultant at my hospital says there is empirical evidence

Recent blood test results.
My husband received the flu shot a week ago and I'm wondering if the higher and lower numbers are the result of the shot or the shingles he had 3 months ago. IGA is 48 mg/dl--previous blood test was 68 mg/dl Normal range is 70 mg/dl Abs Lymphs 3.6 1000/mm3

Shingles Vaccine
I have now nearly reached 65 years of age! My GP surgery is offering me the shingles Vaccine. Has anyone had any side effects from it. I am worried as I stopped having the flu vaccine because of painful side effects. Is it safe to have and would you advise having it?

Flu jab
Hi, has anyone had any headache related reactions to the flu or pneumonia jabs? I had bad migrane s after the covid jabs, which lasted a long time. I've now been invited for the flu and pneumonia and worried it may do the same. Thanks for any advice.
