My asthma is currently out of control, I’ve had 12 admissions in the last 6 months, I’m nearly always in resus when I get unwell. I’ve been on steroids since October and currently can’t get lower than 20mg. - the steroids have ruined my immune system, I ended up in isolation 2 weeks ago with influenza

Self isolation?
Given the governments latest announcement does anyone have any clarity around whether asthma is included in the 12wk recos? I have the flu jab, but can’t see any advice...thank you!!

Why the panic?
Could someone please explain to me why there is so much panic around the coronavirus? The mortality rate is between 3 and 4 percent of confirmed cases but with many people, especially children, experiencing very mild symptoms this rate is likely much lower as these mild cases are not tested and as such

COV19 and Tetralogy Of Fallot
Any connection between novel coronavirus and Tetralogy Of Fallot? Any reason to be more cautious since there is no vaccine yet? I have been advised to always get my flu shots, even though I have gotten the flu and recovered fine. I guess they tell me that as an extra safety measure.

Nursing with ET during concerning times.
This issue is something I would like Maz to ask the medical team ( if this is possible!) about but also others in a similar position. I am a 40 year old full time nurse, I have ET diagnosed when I was 25 & I take hydoxyurea since diagnosis and I am more than a little concerned about Coronavirus. At the

Coronavirus concerns
I'm sure we're all worrying about this but as they didn't think I was 'vulnerable' enough for a flu jab as I'm undiagnosed (I have FM and ME) I'm wondering if I'm considered vulnerable for this. I'm 60 and had pleurisy over 25 years ago. I also worry about other family members, one who has MS and also

Is a universal flu vaccine on the horizon?
Every fall, millions of people roll up their sleeves for a flu
vaccine
, hoping to give their immune system a leg up on
influenza
. But the flu virus has thousands of strains that mutate and evolve across seasons, and the vaccine can’t guard against all of them.

Pneumonia
I am 51 year old male, I have had pneumonia 3 times in the last 5 years. Would I be more at risk with this corona virus. Is there anything I can do or take to boost my immune system? Do lungs recover completely from pneumonia or are they always weakened? I have had the NHS pneumonia jab and always have

COVID-19---US White House to meet 03/02/2020 in afternoon with Major US Drug Company CEOs re: Vaccine development
Supposedly, the US WH will meet with CEOs of the 8 major US drug companies to explore exactly where they are (as well as the future) in developing a vaccine which would stop the spread of COVID-19 ASAP. My guess is that we are probably 1-2 years away from a truly “novel, unique” vaccine for COVDI

The findings that the death rate for men is higher than that for women is not surprising: "Officials recorded a 2.8% fatality rate for male patients versus 1.7% for women." Women tend to launch a vigorous assault on viral insults, whereas men with normal-high testosterone [T] have a more muted response
