Just back from second W7 run and boy was it tough. I struggled over the first half to such an extent I don’t believe it’s possible to run any slower! Since the last run (on Tuesday) my legs have just been so stiff it’s been difficult moving although I did a 5 mile walk yesterday to try and get the muscles working a thought could it be the flu jab I had also Tuesday not helping?? The good news is that the second half of the run was a lot easier. Whilst. Little apprehensive I am looking forward to R3 on Saturday. Thanks for letting me vent.

Well done you for persevering - you’re doing great, as Sanjeev likes to tell me ! I find my legs get stiffer if I don’t drink enough water - could that be a factor ? Stretches will help ease them. All the best for the next run x

Great idea. All my life I have been told I don’t drink enough. I can frequently go a whole day with 1 cup of tea and perhaps a glass of water. You have prompted me to upping my water intake. Let’s see if that helps on Saturday

I had similar issues and someone else on the forum suggested this to me, and it has made a difference. Hope it works for you too 😀

I had very stiff legs Some mornings I walked downstairs like an automaton I got better though 🙂. I am 60 and I thought I would always be concrete legs but thankfully not

You could take an extra day between runs if needs be Walking is a good idea. Being a lot more mobile day to day is the best thing. Yoga is fab for stiffness! You can do it at home in front of the telly I bought a cheapo TAmal Dodge beginner’s dvd It’s brill. I liked it so much I got the intermediate one as well

Swimming, cycling, dancing or whatever all help with mobility on your non run days. Be sure to run very slowly. There’s no hurry for this programme. It’s only about finishing the sessions 😃

Good job. The people I know who have the flu jab usually become lethargic for a couple or so days soon after so maybe that’s a factor. Hydration certainly from what you said in a reply above. Stay loose on rest days. You’re completing runs and you’re close now to graduation, now go get some water to sip!

Good to share experiences. I found w7r2 really tough. I think a lot have on here. My theory is that it's because we've run about 10k non stop within a week for the first time. The good folks on here told me not to worry, we always have tough unexpected runs from time to time. My three runs since have been great and my next one is w8r3. Hope that helps - you're nearly there, isn't that amazing!

Thanks for the feedback. I am ‘sort of’ looking forward to R3.

I’m so pleased you shared this as I found Week 7 really tough too. Not that I couldn’t do the 25mins, that was ok, but my legs were like lead and it took me more than my usual five minutes to ‘get going’. I’ve just read the comments and I’m going to try to up my water intake too see if that helps. When are you doing W8R1? I’m doing it on Friday...we can spur each other on! ☺️

Thank you for your post Bloodhound. I completed W7R2 yesterday through grim determination but found it mentally hard going. The sun was out, the park gates were still locked and a tree had fallen across my alternate route - I felt unusually fed up. Apprehensive about Friday's run, need a morale boost. It helps knowing others have struggled at this stage.onwards and upwards!
