Worried.
I suffer with
emphysema
so my hubby’s worried it’s inflammation in my lungs. I also have multiple health issues, plus I’m 79yrs old. So I really don’t want to unnecessarily end up going to a hospital.

Bronchiectasis and COPD
And finally it is a not at all infrequent companion disease to
emphysema
. That will be me then. Now just recently there has been a bit of a revolution since the British Lung Foundation has been taken over by asthma.

Want to speed things up
Hello, I am currently waiting for a diagnosis, after a chest X ray and chronic breathlessness suggested COPD (
emphysema
) may be a possibility.

I was also diagnosed with
emphysema
. I stopped smoking 3 years ago. I now find out my surgery has failed. I went to Mayo and saw their head of thoracic surgery and he said he wouldn't operate n because he couldn't be sure what he was getting into and it could just make everything worse.

On this morning
Out of all the pages the thing that stuck out was early
emphysema
in lower left quadrant. My medically trained daughter pointed out that most people of my age who’d once smoked would have similar and it’s only been found due to the tests otherwise I wouldn’t know.

Comparison can be good for the soul...
And in the course of that a lung biopsy revealed COPD – specifically
emphysema
and bronchiectasis. So within a couple of years I attended my first PRS course in Norfolk (where we lived. I was among the youngest in class and my condition better than most.

I have not been officially diagnosed with
emphysema
but for 1 year my chest x-ray shows hyperinflated lungs. The last one showed some changes. My PC is talking about a ct scan. This is making me very anxious as I have a diagnosis of anxiety centered on my health.

You are what you breath - but what you breath varies...
But given my smoking, an incident caused by Hitler in 1943 and that childhood asthma my breathing was not good. 2006 and a biopsy revealed
emphysema
and a side dish of bronchiectasis, probably the result of scarring during the pneumonia episodes. (my theory, btw).

Fibroscan today
He is having major breathing problems due to COPD,
emphysema
and suspected asbestosis so had to take steroids for a while which has caused his diabetes to go into overdrive. I feel so sorry for him - this was NASH cirhosis and cancer in his liver. Not sure what else I can do for him?

How Long is the Waiting List for Spirometry?
I know anaemia can increase breathlessness, but can
emphysema
(which is what is suspected) also cause or worsen anaemia? Thanks

Pain when breathing in
They had no record of my
Emphysema
diagnosis from the private hospital I used. The response I got was "I suggest you call an ambulance if you begin to feel worse". Should I go to MIU or A & E? Any advice gratefully received. Thank you all x

Diagnosed with Emphysema today - Continued.......
On Thursday, I posted that I had been diagnosed with
Emphysema
and I'd been given little information from the Consultant and so Googled it. One site said people had a life expectancy of 5 years from diagnosis and other sites had similarly doom laden information.

Heart diagnosis query
When getting results from the doctor, was told that he has
emphysema
, doesn’t appear to have breathing difficulties and also and calcium build up on left side of his heart. Was given statins and blood pressure tablets and told he is a potential heart attack victim if he doesn’t take them.
